There has been a path around the pond for many years, but the path to be discussed here is a new and different one.
Proceeding east along the path, we come to the crosswalk which connects it with the sidepath on the other side of Concord Avenue (location B on aerial photo).
In the next photo (location G in aerial photo), the end of the path segment in front of the waterworks is visible at the left (reddish pavement).

 Old Stage Road Bike Path, Barnstable
This path, most of which was built in the early 1980s, is a sidewalk-type path like many on the Cape.
Notice also the sand on the path, due to poor drainage and the lack of the street-sweeping effect of motor vehicles.
As of 1985, the path ended at Race Lane with no crosswalk marking and with the stop sign and crosswalk line after the end of the path.

Zion is the next town with 11 more street crossings and then the trail breaks into more pastoral, rural setting for the remainder of the ride to the Wisconsin state line where the trail becomes the Kenosha County Trail (after the Russell Road overpass) and continues 3.6 miles to Kenosha.
Bike farther north on Kenosha's Pike Trail and then another trail and you'll get to Racine in 9.3 more miles.

It was February and 20 below, so they didn't have their bikes with them, but they did have snowshoes and cross-country skis, for the activities that would occupy the rest of their weekends once they'd got a little light demonstrating out of the way.
A little over an hour north of that Burlington bike path is Montreal, the visits to which (for kids' hockey fixtures and his appearances on a Canadian TV show) Dr. Dean cites, seriously, as his main foreign-policy experience.
