		Bile is every big as good as EITHER of those bands (actually better in my opinion), but they just aren't considered "ultra cool" or "ultra hip" right now...which is even MORE reason to go out and support these folks.
		Though the band was playing for a relatively small crowd, they swelled and swerved with TONS of energy...and I came away from this show liking the band even more than I did in the first place.
		This band is a trio consisting of a vocalist, a guitarist, and a "noisemaker." Though they only played for about 20 minutes, the trio managed to shake the walls and the brains of the crowd, creating a harsh, almost undiscernable blast of noise.

		Bile were spewed out of the Long Island area of New York back in 1992 and have been creating material ever since, with a whole string of releases stemming beyond the 1994 debut "Suck Pump" which established them as a recognized force in the scene.
		Bile have concentrated on evolving their metal-cum-distotion hybrid as opposed to pointing the compass solely in one direction, and realistically, they have not put out a poor or lacklustre disc to date, which is a consistancy worth accomodating in any band.
		Bile the band should certainly not be overlooked, even if ultimately they are a little too disgusting for all to accomodate.

		Bile, unlike Gwar (or Headbanger's Ball for that matter), has an electronic bent to their music, and this is their saving grace.
		The only problem with this is that there are already many bands that do this sort of schtick, and adding another one isn't going to make them stand out too much, even if they do package the Cd in a translucent green jewel case.
		One band which comes to mind while listening to the Phantom Surfers is The Ventures, one of the most influential surf bands from the 60s and originators of the Hawaii Five-O theme song.

		On a side note, some bands that DID perform very well were Slayer (the best act there, I think), Priest, Dimmu Borgir ("true fl metal fans" beware), and Atreyu.
		those bands have millions of fans, and millions of dollars, so weather they suck or not is really irrelevent.
		To me, it's the same kind of person that thinks Slipknot "sold out" when they made Vol.3, it's all a matter of opinion, but it does seem to be something of a trend lately to jump on the "let's hate slipknot" wagon.
