IT WAS IN 1926 THAT MY FATHER, Bill Kopp, was asked to drive a truck for a friend of the family, Evan Cameron, who ran a stage line between Pendleton and Pilot Rock for freight and passengers.
When Bill agreed to drive the Model T truck for a few days, neither he nor anyone else imagined that he would be operating the freight line for the next sixty years.

A trailer bill promoting related educational programs in public schools is the resolution's likely successor, he said, but that is still in the idea stage of development.
Kopp said he got the idea for the resolution from a constituent who had read about communities that fight hate crimes in a Parade magazine article.
The prison bill rests with the Assembly Committee on Public Safety, where it is slated for a July 1 vote.

One response to the 1998 bill is the creation of private mutual water companies by developers and then joining roving JPAs as the local member agency.
Under the bill, the bond trustee can pay the local agency's reimbursement claims only if there are verified receipts for the local agency's legitimate administrative costs.
Bills in 1990, 1995, and 1997 were supposed to stop the practice of paying inflated administrative fees to cities that created roving JPAs but the fees continue.

Kopp's new bill would allow these advertisements to be published in any newspaper of general circulation anywhere in the state.
If Kopp's bill is an attempt to lower costs for legal actions such as fictitious business names, name changes and foreclosures (cost cutting was the aim of Kopp's bill last year), it does the opposite.
Included in the new bill is a new charge to be paid to the county recorder for each of these publications so the county recorder can meet the proposed requirement that they be put on the state librarian's Web page.

The law, written by State Senator Quentin Kopp and Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, makes it illegal for witnesses and jurors in criminal proceedings to be paid by the media or anyone else for information pertaining to the case in which they are involved until the case is over.
According to a letter Sen. Kopp sent to Governor Pete Wilson with the bill, the media frenzy of the O.J. Simpson trial and the possibility of compromising the credibility of potential witnesses with offers of money prompted Kopp to introduce the bill.
Kopp's office said they do "expect there will be litigation" concerning the validity of the law.

New Hanover County Commissioner Bill Kopp was elected first vice president of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners on Saturday, Sept. 9, during the Association’s 99th Annual Conference, which was held at The Twin City Quarter in Forsyth County.

Kopp pointed out that a tentative agreement between the nation's tobacco companies and several state attorneys general provides $4 billion a year from personal injury lawsuits.

These experiments usually cause huge amounts of pain and suffering to Bill, who is probably the most unlucky character in all the Eek and TTL episodes.
As if the constants tortures at the hands of Scooter's inventions aren't enough already, Bill is also the favourite snack of the Jungle Slug (sluggus idiotus), one of the most perilous and definitely the most silly-looking creature ever to wander the face of the earth.

The first is a statement of oppostion to Quentin Kopp's AB 2248 requiring parental consent for HIV/AIDS instruction.
Under the false guise of giving parents "control" over their childrens' education, he wants to force kids to get specific permission from their parents before they can be taught about how venereal diseases are spread.
So I am criticized for co-authoring a bill requiring parents to sign a permission slip, (just like they must for a field trip) before their 12-year-old is taught how to use dildos and the best way to clean IV needles?

The intent of the bill, said its author, state Sen. Quentin L. Kopp (I-San Francisco), is to help "keep the faith" with Proposition 209, which voters approved in 1996.
Wilson said the Kopp bill would encourage minority- and women-owned businesses to compete effectively for state business, but without using race, gender or ethnicity to qualify for contracts.
Among other things, the Kopp bill would give an advantage to small businesses when bidding on state projects by making it harder for larger companies to underbid small ones.
