Bill's first kit came for Christmas at age 12, and by the next year Bill was already performing on stage with bands in and around his hometown of Minneapolis.
Bill was flown out to the West coast for session work with Bobby Womack and Ike and Tina Turner, when he was discovered by Sly Stone, and immediately recruited as part of the Family Stone for their "Small Talk" LP in 1974.
Bill Lordan was an integral part of the Charlie Souza Band on 9 Ball in the Corner Pocket, providing drums as well as songwriting contributions.

It was at this time that Bill and Willie had the chance to meet and jam with Jimi Hendrix.

For Robin Trower, Bill was a huge part of the success of the band in the early 70's with Jimmy Dewar and returning to tour in the late 80's with the Pattison line up.

As I was reading up on Bill to write this, I found a quote from an interview that Trower did for Circus Raves in 1975 and I felt it was the best way to lead into this interview.
When Robin answered, I told him that I was Bill Lordan from Sly and the Family Stone and that I was the guy that he was looking for.
Bill Lordan is one of the nicest people I have ever met in the music business.

Eager to expand his horizons and having been caught in a bit of a rut, he teamed up with ex-Cream singer and bassist, Jack Bruce.
Drummer Bill Lordan was added and they called the power trio B.L.T. In a way, it was almost inevitable that Trower and Bruce would join forces, with Bruce having previously played with heavyweights Eric Clapton and Leslie West.
Truce, released later in 1981, is more of the same, but with 'Bridge of Sighs' drummer Reg Isidore returning to replace Bill Lordan.
