Bill Miner was born in 1847 in Bowling Green, KY. His birth name was McDonald.
On December 15, 1881, Miner was convicted of robbery and this time received a sentence of 25 years at San Quentin due to his prior convictions.
Miner thought he was dead, so he and Hoehn took off without any loot.

Bill Miner (William A. Miner) - subject of the movie The Grey Fox, and originator of that famous phrase, "Hands up!" - is regarded as one of the continent's most notorious outlaws.
It is believed that he was born in the state of Kentucky around 1843 and moved west before the start of the American Civil War, working as a cowboy, a driver, and finally an express rider in the California and Colorado territories.
Miner and Culquhoun surrendered and all three were eventually convicted, Miner being sentenced to "life" at the New Westminster Penitentiary.

It was even said that while miner was hanging out at the train station, he would listen to someone talk with one ear and listen to messages coming in over the telegraph line with the other.

Microfun had a bad habit of not paying their royalties for the Miner 2049er license and rumour has it that they created Miner II as a way to compensate for the failure of Scraper Caper to be released of which they had invested advertising money.
By this time, the Miner 2049er bandwagon had lost much of its steam and most versions released were in the UK for several British systems such as the BBC, Amstrad and Sinclair Spectrum.
