Chicago White Sox - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This trade was deemed as the "White Flag Trade" by the Chicago newspapers due to the perception that the White Sox organization essentially surrendered to the Indians without a fight that year.
Since 2000, a heated feud has grown between the White Sox and their Central Division rivals, the Minnesota Twins, fueled in large part by the unchallenged Central Division dominance of the Twins in the 2002, 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Shrine of the Eternals Candidates, 2005
The Shrine of the Eternals is similar in concept to the annual elections held at the Baseball Hall of Fame, but differs philosophically in that statistical accomplishment is not a criterion for election.
On a procedural level, the Shrine of the Eternals differs significantly from the Baseball Hall of Fame in the manner by which electees are chosen.
While the Baseball Hall of Fame’s electees are chosen in voting conducted by sportswriters or committees, the members of the Baseball Reliquary determine the actual Shrine electees, and membership is open to the public.

Pravda.RU Bill White: Trapped in A Race Riot Violence In York After White Supremacists Rally
It was hatred of white people as white people — and one had to wonder if what motivated them was the large number of Jewish activist that had blurred into their crowd many of whom used their best oratory to attempt to harangue the city's fl residents into joining their violent frenzy.
The white middle class was “yuppy.” If they appeared to be wealthy whites, they were “rich bastards.” But all of these categories were racially limited — middle class Jews weren’t “yuppies” and working class fl people weren’t “rednecks” — even if they were from the country.
As this is occurring as organized resistance to this activity is weakening, and as resistance to these movements among the general population is decreasing, it seems that the factors that would tend to limit or reduce the rate of growth of this movement are becoming less and less significant.

Rusinack & Lamb: "'A Sickening Red Tinge': The Daily Worker's Fight Against White Baseball"
By contrast, white sportswriters, working for mainstream dailies, maintained a "conspiracy of silence" on the color line, either afraid of upsetting their editors and readers or convinced of the need for segregation on personal grounds.
While baseball had thus far been able to turn a deaf ear to criticism of its color ban, it could neither dismiss nor deny the outcry over a racist remark made by a New York Yankee outfielder during a radio interview in late July 1938.
William Rogosin suggested that not only did the incident solidify the sense of outrage against baseball's color line, it illustrated the instability of segregated baseball, where a single intemperate remark embroiled the sport in controversy.

Over the next decade, the Daily Worker brashly challenged the baseball establishment to permit fl players; condemned white owners and managers for perpetuating the color ban; organized petition drives and distributed anti-discrimination pamphlets outside ballparks; and criticized the mainstream press for ignoring the race issue.

However, the integration of baseball would not become a significant issue in the Worker until the introduction of a daily sports page in 1936.
