  Billie Burke - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mary William Ethelbert Appleton Burke (born August 7, 1884 in Washington D.C. ; died May 14, 1970 in Los Angeles, California) was an actress primarily known to modern audiences for her role as Glinda, the Good Witch of the North in the musical The Wizard of Oz.
Known as Billie Burke, she toured the US and Europe with a circus because her father, Billy Burke, was employed with them as a singing clown.
Billie Burke died in Los Angeles, California of natural causes at the age of 85 in 1970 and was interred at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, New York, survived by her daughter, Patricia, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

William C. Burke (known affectionately by one an all as "Billy" ever since he was a knee-high-to-a-grasshopper folk dancer) was for many years a performer with the famed AMAN Folk Ensemble (aka, AMAN International Music and Dance Company) of Los Angeles, California.
Billy has directed a folk dance performing group, Tanza, for many years and is currently on the staff of the Millikan Middle School in Sherman Oaks, California, where he also directs the Millikan Dancers.
Billy is currently one of the directors of the Mendocino Folklore Camp, where he has helped institute some changes, such as, widening the teaching staff to include "experiential" classes in singing, drumming, tinwhistle, and other non-dancing activities.

However, specialists at the Freeman Hospital removed Mr Burke from their waiting list in November of last year because they said he was too high-risk.
