China Thursday morning welcomed its 1.3 billionth citizen, but experts cautioned that the country should get prepared to address its still growing population, increasing employment pressure and rising sex ratio imbalance before celebrating.
The baby boy, born at two minutes past midnight Thursday in a Beijing hospital, was called a "lucky dog" by his father to be declared China's 1.3 billionth citizen.
Experts say China's 1.3 billion population might have come four years earlier if it were not for the family planning policy the Chinese government adopted over three decades ago.

2 Cents Worth » One Billionth Internet User
I’ve been working on a reflective article for a number of days now, in amongst the holiday activities, but ran across this from Web Usability Guru Jakob Nielsen’s Alertbox blog, and just had to pass it on.
Some time in 2005, we quietly passed a dramatic milestone in Internet history: the one-billionth user went online.
Because we have no central register of Internet users, we don’t know who that user was, or when he or she first logged on.

MacNN | Apple announces billionth song, winner
The billionth iTunes song was "Speed of Sound," which was purchased as part of Coldplay's "X&Y" album by Alex Ostrovsky from West Bloomfield, Michigan.
I find it ironic that the billionth song came from an album which was notorious for it's restrictive DRM.
Coldplay's "speed of sound" is perhaps the easiest song to download from a free file-sharing network right now (hey, the last thing Chris Martin needs is another penny from me) and yet instead of the billionth song being something from an indie group or even some obscure track, it's the same-old, same-old billboard top 50.
