Although the Cult has folded and reconvened a couple of times since the mid ’90s, Duffy and his arsenal of sounds—along with the snake-charming vocals of longtime friend and collaborator Ian Astbury—remain the nucleus of the band.
Born in Manchester in 1961, Duffy took up guitar as a teenager and was in the right place at the right time when punk and some of its more artsy permutations arose in England in the late ’70s and early ’80s.
