Billy Pigg became vice-President in 1930 and held that post till he died.
Most of these these recordings are out of print or hard to find, but a younger player of the Northumbrian smallpipes, Kathryn Tickell, tours extensively and has several albums in print.
Billy Pigg managed to avoid this problem but his tempos are somewhat erratic.

Pigg is 1988 graduate of the University of Florida.
Pigg then moved on to a successful 10-year stint as the Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. During his tenure the women's cross country team at MU automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships five times and the men's team qualified three times.
In the spring of 2000, Pigg was named the head track and field coach at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. In his first season the cross country team won the Missouri Valley Conference Championships and Pigg was named the Missouri Valley Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Billy Tauzin, R-LA, publically unveiled his mark of the RFS on Monday which proposes to expand ethanol usage in the U.S. from 2.7 billion gallons in 2005 to 5 billion gallons by 2015.
This is great news for Illinois corn producers who have supported ethanol for years and have worked tirelessly to achieve the vision of making ethanol a major contributor to our national energy strategy.
Pigg pointed out the nonpartisan nature of the RFS also gives the bill a good chance of moving through Congress intact.

Kathryn Tickell was born in Wark, in the North Tyne Valley of Northumberland.
She took up the smallpipes aged nine, inspired by her family - especially her father Mike who was heavily involved in the local traditional music scene - and by the music of an older generation of traditional musicians such as Billy Pigg.
By thirteen, Kathryn had won many traditional open smallpipes competitions, and was also making a name as an accomplished player of the fiddle.

"Billy in the Lowground" was played by Arizona fiddler Kenner C. Kartchner for dances in the Southwest at the beginning of the twentieth century (the piece was identified by him as having come to that region from the American South, and assessed it as "a good one").

William Jefferson Pigg married Elizabeth B. Chapman who was born in 1832.
William was born November 14, 1832, died August 28, 1913 and is buried in the Billy Pigg Cemetary in Louisa KY. There is a lot of info...Mary Pigg and William Pigg are children to James Pigg and Sarah Goble Pigg.

I first heard this on Billy Pigg's L.P. The Border Minstrel issued by Leader in 1971.
For some time I struggled with it on the oboe, and after a long rest I came back to it with the dulcimer on which it is a real delight to play.

The 21 tracks feature giants of the traditional scene such as Billy Pigg, the High Level Ranters, Willie Taylor, Joe Hutton and Anthony Robb as well as more recent champions of the music such as Kathryn Tickell and Chris Ormston.
The tracks were recorded over the course of 45 years, in the studio and in the field (although the sound quality is high throughout).
The relevant tracks range from the frenetic style of Billy Pigg, the more stately Jack Armstrong, a pibroch-like piece from Anthony Robb, the more ornamented style of Chris Ormston and the cosmopolitan playing of Kathryn Tickell.
