Holding the album together are beautiful harmonies as well as the conflicted, but genuinely upbeat mood of the lyrics - an uncommon note of positivity in a genre that often rewards sullenness.
Their resume includes half a dozen albums, and the band is currently working on a new album as we speak.
Their new album, "Dead Moon's Calling," showcases the extraordinary cross-polinization of rockabilly, punk rock, classic hardcore and a lot of psychobilly, which quickly became the trademark of the band.

Billy Talent has demoed eight of at least a dozen songs that the Toronto-based rock band will take into Vancouver's The Warehouse Studio in October with producer Gavin Brown once again at the helm.
A board listing other songs for the new album is taped up on the wall of their rehearsal space in downtown Toronto.
It's in the very same building in which the A&R execs from Atlantic first saw Billy Talent play before eventually signing it.

 Welcome to Jazz Standard
A "Talent Deserving of Wider Recognition" in the 2004 Down Beat Critics Poll, Miles Griffith is a gifted vocalist-whimsical, fiery, and heartfelt-whose stated performing goal is to "invite the audience to actively engage in the musical experience.
The album, featuring Blood alone on vocals and guitar, was voted "Blues Album of the Year" in DownBeat's 70th Annual Readers Poll and was hailed by the Washington Post as one of the year's most important blues records.
The Odyssey Band's latest album Back in Time, wrote Francis Davis in the Village Voice, "is the new year's first A-plus, Ulmer's friskiest since the 1983 Columbia LP from which the trio derives its name…The folkloric element is strong and so are the echoes of early rock and randb."

 Prepare To Meet Your Bakerina
Really, it's a toss-up between the first five songs on this album (Beethoven, I've Got a Lover, Do You Want to Break Up?, You Have Placed a Chill in my Heart, Shame), but there's just something about this one that is also made for fast driving.
After the ponderous minor-key overwroughtness of their first two albums, this song sounded drenched in sunshine to me. Still does.
I know that Billy Idol was a poseur/wannabe/prat/wanker, an embodiment of all that people loved to laugh at about the 80's.

Their indulgence in minor keys, powerful dynamic contrasts, bold outbursts, tender melodies and original new developmental elements allowed earlier scholars to place them within Mozart's so-called "Romantic period" of 1772-1773 in which he composed the opera Lucio Silla and the symphony K.96.
Gebauer was one of five talented brothers; he was a bassoonist himself (and wrote 13 concertos for his instrument).
The two Italian labels doing battle over the Leoncavallo piano works are so far being complementary in their programming: only three items here were included in last month's Dynamic release and it is good to have more of the these evocative, crisp and bright salon-style pieces.

I was looking at the Daywind release about the new Brian Free and Assurance recording and noticed a curious omission: my liner notes of the album list four songs written or co-written by Joel Lindsey.
This doesn't seem to be a case of Daywind not understanding the marketing value of promoting an album based on the bankable talent associated with it.
A little strange to tout a name like LaBar's but not Lindsey's, not because she isn't talented (she is, from what I've heard of her work), but because - if I understand it right - Lindsey has been instrumental in developing LaBar's career as a writer.

Presented by the drummer for Rogers' former band--Mickey Jones--the show threw caution to the wind, and produced a genre-hopping wonder of a program which wasn't afraid to stand traditional CandW artists next to cutting edge RandB performers.
The response was so overwhelming that CBS turned it into a weekly music/variety show.
From 1971 to 1973 "Rollin'" (as the show was renamed) was a showcase for the hottest musical talent of the time.
