The legendary Billy Cobham, with his matchless, dazzling, ambidextrous skills as a drummer, has applied the same insistent fervor to his long list of monumental achievements.
Williams to utilize the Electronic Drum Controller made in 1968 by the Meazzi Drum Company in Milano, Italy while on concert tour with Horace Silver in Europe.
Since 1980 Billy Cobham has been dividing his time between his home in Zurich and the United States where he lived in New York City and northern California until that time, underscoring his unique internationally influenced origins as a musician.

Known to friends as "Rogue" during his younger, freer days, Billy Ray is an actor (with credits including Roots, In the Heat of the Night and I'll Fly Away), a student of Civil War history, a screenwriter and all sorts of other things that don't have much to do with picking a guitar.
He's the Billy Ray from Billy Ray Wrote a Song (recorded by George Jones), and he's the Billy of "Billy was a no good guitar picker runnin' from his past" fame in Lee Clayton's Ladies Love Outlaws.
They saw the boy's reaction to Hank Williams' voice coming through the family radio ("It was like some mystic calling, from something before you were born or something," he remembered), and when Billy Ray was in the fourth grade, his mother came to get him out of school one day.

Sheehan accepted, and along with guitarist Steve Vai and drummer Gregg Bissonette, David Lee Roth's band was born.
Although this lineup would last for a single album (1986's Eat 'Em and Smile) and tour, the group managed to do a fantastic job of balancing their instrumental technical prowess with penning anthemic arena rockers (a Talas-era Sheehan composition, "Shy Boy," would be included on the album and serve as a concert opener).

Billy and Jan are Jazz players at the core, Tommy is a Blues based Rock player, and Lee Sklar on bass is one of the great Pop-Rock studio sideman (James Taylor, Phil Collins, etc).
I saw Billy Cobham in concert soon after Spectrum was released, and he was already on to the Crosswinds-Total Eclispe group.

This is one of the more unusual records in the sizable discography of James Williams; it is a 1981 duo piano session with Czech pianist Emil Viklicky, issued by the Supraphon label in Czechoslovakia.
