The Bilunabirotunda by Marcus the Marinite in the Nexus Network Journal vol. 6 no. 1 (Spring 2004)
Part of the Bilunabirotunda's beauty is that it uses the same three geometric shapes that are found in the five Platonic Solids: the equilateral triangle, the square, and the regular pentagon.
At first glance, the bilunabirotunda appears to be a dodecahedron from this view; however, because of the presence of the squares, I believe that this form would be more viable as an architectural reality than the dodecahedron would be.
Although there is a cube in the core of the dodecahedron, the cube is not in parallel alignment with the form's pentagonal faces, nor are the edges.

One of Stewart's more remarkable discoveries was this drilling of the Johnson Solid: bilunabirotunda by a non-convex polyhedron he names only 'Z4'.
The Z4 itself was obtained by sectioning a bilunabirotunda.

Didax sells a miniature Geofix set as well as some different Geofix kits than The Construction Site, but at considerably higher prices.
Above is a bilunabirotunda (one of the Johnson solids), made with four pentagons, two squares, and eight triangles.
More complex shapes can be constructed as flat "nets" of polygons and then assembled into the three-dimensional shape, such as the Great Rhombicosi dodecahedron in the two pictures below, which looks rather like a huge colorful soap bubble (note cat behind the assembled shape, for scale):

So, there will not be any panel at the surface, that is, all of its faces will be hollow.
The internal structure is made of six pieces like that shown in the following picture (Johnson solid number 91, called bilunabirotunda), each one of them stabilized with four pentagons.
Neither square (the silver, upper one, or the lower, green one) need stabilization with a panel, as they will be rigid when construction is completed.
