The Bimaculated Lark is easiest to identify in flight when the lack of a white trailing edge to the wing is distinctive and the tail has white tips rather than white outer feathers.
Also, although the underwing is dark it isn’t as strikingly fl as on a Calandra Lark.
Restricted in this region to the central plateau of Turkey where it sometimes occurs alongside Calandra Lark, especially at the end of the breeding season.

Calandra Larks often look too big to be larks so at first glance you might think they are waders or even small birds of prey!
At rest, the large size, massive conical bills and prominent fl neck patches quickly eliminate all the other larks except Bimaculated Lark.
Calandras can be separated from this species by their plainer faces, white outer feathers and white trailing edge to the wings.

Laggar is in my opinion in serious decline and much more scarce than for example Red-necked Falcon at least in the Poona area.
Other birds around Sam were Cream-coloured Courser, Trumpeter Finch, Bimaculated Lark, Desert Lark, Black-crowned Sparrow Lark, Desert Warbler and Desert Lesser Whitethroat.

Lake's periphery is 12 km and we would stop every here and there on the periphery.
