  The Ten Sefirot: Binah
Binah appears in the configuration of the sefirot at the top of the left axis, and corresponds in the tzelem Elokim to the left hemisphere of the brain.
In its fully articulated form, binah possesses two partzufim: the higher of these is referred to as Imma Ila'ah ("the higher mother"), whereas the lower is referred to as Tevunah ("comprehension").
Binah is associated in the soul with the power of conceptual analysis and reasoning, both inductive and deductive.

 Kabbalah
Kabbalah, which is the spelling usually preferred by scholars, specifically refers to oral mystical teaching not normally revealed to the general population, but passed on from the adepts to the initiates.
Although the Kabbalah is founded on the Torah, the Jewish scriptures and other sacred writings, it is no intellectual discipline; and the mystic is not to practice it in solitude, but is to employ it to enlighten humanity.
The Kabbalah, which is based on the theory of the soul's descent from and ascent to God, is made up of ten sephirots instead of nine which is due to the influence of the Pythagorean theory.

This intellectual power is called binah, a word derived from the Hebrew root bein, which means "between." Binah is the ability to analyze and then distinguish between situations or entities that on the surface seem similar, but are really quite different.
The definition of binah is found in one of the blessings said every morning: "You have given the rooster binah to distinguish between night and day." When the rooster crows, it still looks like night outside, but in fact it is the beginning of morning.

CANA - Kabbalah: Getting Back to the Garden
Binah is the womb, the “Divine Mother,” who conceives the seven lower sefirot (P. Berg, 18; Matt, Zohar, xxvi).
Kabbalah teaches that God’s blessings flow to the world through the Tree of Life when there is ethical behavior among humans; evil actions disrupt the union of the sefirot and empower demonic activity.
Kabbalah, according to one writer, is not about worship or belief, but rather “becomes a direct path of communion between the individual and the Divine” (Harvey, 86).

Judaism 101: Kabbalah and Jewish Mysticism
The areas of Jewish thought that most extensively discuss these issues, Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism, were traditionally not even taught to people until the age of 40, when they had completed their education in Torah and Talmud.
The mystical school of thought came to be known as Kabbalah, from the Hebrew root Qof-Bet-Lamed, meaning "to receive, to accept." The word is usually translated as "tradition." In Hebrew, the word does not have any of the dark, sinister, evil connotations that it has developed in English.
Kabbalah was popular among Christian intellectuals during the Renaissance and Enlightenment periods, who reinterpreted its doctrines to fit into their Christian dogma.

 Notes on Kabbalah
Kabbalah is *not* a materialist model of reality, but when we examine Malkuth by itself we find ourselves immersed in matter, and it is natural to think in terms of physics, chemistry and molecular biology.
One of the titles of Binah is Khorsia, or Throne, and the image which this text provides is that Binah provides the framework upon which Malkuth sits.
Binah contains the potential of form in the abstract, while Malkuth is is the fullest realisation of form, and both sephiroth share the correspondences of heaviness, limitation, finiteness, inertia, avarice, silence, and death.

Kabbalah, also spelled Kabbala (Hebrew: "tradition"), is generally known as the name for esoteric Jewish mysticism as it appeared in the 12th century and later.
But at first the word Kabbalah did not refer to a specific esoteric tradition per se; in the Talmud, it is used for the extra-Pentateuchal parts of the Bible, and in post-talmudic literature the Oral Law is also called "kabbalah".
Kabbalah is only one of the many terms used, during a period of more than 1500 years, to designate the mystical movement, its teaching, and its adherents, says Scholem.

 Learn Kabbalah | Practical Kabbalah
Practical Kabbalah includes beliefs in angels and demons, methods for influencing the Divine influx, means of fortune-telling and accessing one's past incarnations, and so on.
If theosophical Kabbalah is about knowing and influencing the Divine realms, and prophetic Kabbalah is about experiencing the Divine directly, then practical Kabbalah is about using the knowledge of Divine and angelic powers to influence life on this world.
There is also a more keen awareness of practical Kabbalah on the part of theosophical books such as the Zohar, which explicitly demeans the use of Kabbalah for earthly gain or protection, and which — like many theosophical texts — considers practical Kabbalah to be a disgrace.

The removal of "Binah" from the head of the Sephiroth into the body caused a diminution of light in "Binah", which turned her into a small dimension of light on a par with the body, lacking the supernal light of the head.
When "Binah" is reduced to the dimension of the body of the Sephiroth, it means that her head remained in the head of the Sephiroth.
