  Binary form
Binary form is a way of structuring a piece of music.
Binary form was popular in the Baroque period, often used to structure movements from sonatas for keyboard instruments.
However, around the middle of the 18th century, the form largely fell from use as sonata form, which has similarities to binary form, was developed.

binary   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Binary form -- A tonally closed musical entity in two sections, both of which are usually repeated.
We classify binary forms according to their tonal form (their harmonic shape) and their surface design (the patterns of melodic repetition that occur in the music).
In some simple continuous binary forms, there is a kind of "rhyme" between the closing gesture of the first reprise and the closing gesture of the second.

 Binary and Variable Stars
The other way for a binary system to form is if a free star happens to fall into another star's gravitational pull, and become locked in orbit because it does not have enough energy to escape.
The reason that binary systems are sometimes mistaken for variable stars is because some eclipse periodically, as seen from Earth.
Binary stars are important in stellar science because it is only when a star is in a binary system that we have the possibility of deriving its true mass.

The second form of the command, binary scan, does the opposite: it extracts data from a binary string and returns it as ordinary Tcl string values.
The binary format command generates a binary string whose layout is specified by the formatString and whose contents come from the addi- tional arguments.
For example, binary format i3 {3 -3 65536 1} will return a string equivalent to \x03\x00\x00\x00\xfd\xff\xff\xff\x00\x00\x01\x00 I This form is the same as i except that it stores one or more one or more 32-bit integers in big-endian byte order in the output string.

CLASSICAL MUSIC ARCHIVES: Definition of FORM
forms so far devised can be classified into no more than 6 categories, all of them exploiting the idea of contrast plus variety both in the domain of content (thematic material) and in that of key (combinations of these are, of course, possible, e.g.
This form, although it sometimes attained fairly considerable dimensions in the 18th cent., is unsuitable for very long pieces, since the variety offered to the listener is almost entirely confined to details of treatment and the element of key, the thematic material employed throughout being the same.
A tendency towards the evolution of simple binary form into compound binary form may be observed in some of Bach's movts., but its first real exploitation is connected with the name and fame of his son, C. Bach, and the further exploitation and elaboration with the names of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and their contemporaries.

Most strictly, a piece in binary form will be in two halves, equal in length.
However, around the middle of the 18th century, the form largely fell from use as sonata form and organic development gained prominence.
Many larger forms incorporate binary form, and many more complicated forms, such as sonata form, may share characteristics with binary form.

Binary Number System | World of Mathematics
Leibniz was quick to recognize the advantages of the binary system over the denary system, but he is also well known for his attempts to transfer binary thinking to theology.
He speculated that the creation of the universe may have been based on a binary scale, where "God, represented by the number 1, created the Universe out of nothing, represented by 0." This widely quoted analogy rests on an error, in that it is not strictly correct to equate nothing with zero.
The binary system, once dismissed as primitive, is thus central to the development of computer science and many forms of electronics.

AG RVS - Logical Form as a Binary Relation
This logical form can be shown as we did, but it is not at all clear it could be stated in the natural language: the symbols F and G are `place-holders', not meaningful components of the pseudo-sentence, and by virtue of their function as place-holders, they contribute nothing to explaining the meaning of the pseudo-sentence.
The form common to the pictures and the proposition was the logical form, which for Wittgenstein was shown by truth tables, as opposed to the usual symbolic notation which we use nowadays.
In this passage from (Dav80, p140), Davidson acknowledges the relativity of logical form and that a criterion for logical form is determining the role of a sentence in entailments:

 Practical: Parsing Binary Files
Binary file formats are usually designed to be both compact and efficient to parse--that's their main advantage over text-based formats.
Since binary formats are usually used to represent data in a way that makes it easy to map to in-memory data structures, it should come as no surprise that composite on-disk structures are usually defined in ways similar to the way programming languages define in-memory structures.
form will be evaluated in a context where the names of the slots defined by the tagged class are bound to variables that hold the values read from the file.

Binary (also known as "base 2") is just another way of representing (writing) the same decimal numbers we've come to know and love.
In decimal form, we represent the number twenty-nine as a combination of decimal digits: namely, as two tens and nine ones, which totals twenty-nine.
In binary form, too, we need to come up with a combination of the numbers each digit represents that will total twenty-nine.

One caveat with signed binary numbers is that of overflow, where the answer to an addition or subtraction problem exceeds the magnitude which can be represented with the alloted number of bits.

 How to move data around
The alternative form of data storage is "binary" form.
Thus, 8 bytes of storage are typically used to store a number in binary floating point format, and all such numbers have the same number of significant digits of precision whether they are needed or not: the same number of bytes would be used to store 1.5 or 1.50000001 in binary floating point form.
Executable program files (EXE and COM files) are another kind of binary file: the "source code" for a computer program is generally written and stored in text form, but the human-readable source code must be "compiled" into machine-readable binary form before it can be executed.

Planetary systems can form around binary stars
Most binaries have separations similar to the distance from the Sun to Neptune (~30 AU, where 1 AU = 1 astronomical unit = 150 million kilometers--the distance from the Earth to the Sun).
In Boss’ new models, the planet-forming disk in orbit around one of the stars is quickly driven to form dense spiral arms, within which self-gravitating clumps of gas and dust form and begin the process of contracting down to planetary sizes.
Given the growing observational evidence for gas-giant planets in binary star systems, the new results suggest that shock heating in binary disks cannot be too large, or it would prevent gas-giant planet formation.
