Ottawa Senators - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the 1995-1996 season, the Senators moved from the Ottawa Civic Centre to the Palladium (later known as Corel Centre, now known as Scotiabank Place) on January 15th 1996, which was in the nearby city of Kanata (which was amalgamated into the City of Ottawa in 2000).
The Senators lost again to the Maple Leafs in the first round, this time in a 4-0 sweep, where they were repeatedly stymied by Leafs' goaltender Curtis Joseph.
This loss was particularly devastating since the Senators were widely tipped to win the Stanley Cup, or else lose it to the powerful San Jose Sharks, and were the highest seeded team left in the playoffs after the elimination of the Detroit Red Wings by the Edmonton Oilers.
