		In her introduction, Bini succinctly summarizes this attitude by quoting Sicilian author Leonardo Sciascia's use of the term "stilnovismo patologico" in his 1961 essay "Pirandello e la Sicilia" (13), whereby women are simultaneously exalted and despised for their total surrender to the realm of instinct and lack of ability to reason logically.
		For Bini, it is a process fueled by Pirandello's sublimated desire for the actress, but also by Abba's passionate style of acting, which allowed her to transcend the playwright's written text and ultimately lead to her role as co-creator.
		Bini's bibliography is quite extensive and up to date; it too should prove invaluable to all those interested in rediscovering this important, and regretfully, frequently ignored, body of work.
