Bioalcohol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bioalcohol is alcohol obtained from biological sources, not from petroleum.
Bioalcohol is not used in most industrial processes, which use alcohol derived from fossil fuels as this produces alcohol that is cheaper than bioalcohol.
Many economists argue that this fact illustrates the economic infeasibility of using bioalcohol as a petroleum substitute and argue that government programs that mandate the use of bioalcohol are simply agricultural subsidies.

Biodiesel recipe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Some fat has a high level of free fatty acids which require an acid esterification (to obtain an pH lower than 3) before the alkaline transesterification.
Mixing the bioalcohol (methanol or ethanol) and catalyst (sodium hydroxide) in exact amounts, to produce methoxide
The transesterification process is the reaction of a triglyceride (fat/oil) with an bioalcohol to form esters and glycerol.

Renewable energy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Agriculturally produced biomass fuels, such as biodiesel, ethanol and bagasse (often a by-product of sugar cane cultivation) can be burned in internal combustion engines or boilers.
Liquid biofuel is usually bioalcohol such as methanol, ethanol and biodiesel.
Biodiesel can be used in modern diesel vehicles with little or no modification and can be obtained from waste and crude vegetable and animal oil and fats (lipids).

The BioAlcohol Fuel Foundation (BAFF), earlier Stiftelsen Svensk Etanolutvecklng (SSEU) was founded in 1983 and is based in Örnsköldsvik, northern part of Sweden.
BAFF’s goal is to develop the production and use of ethanol within industry as well as transportation.
With ethanol as motor fuel, along with powdered lignin and methane as fuel for electricity and heat production, energy becomes a part of the Eco-system.

Methanol blends are the fuel of choice in open wheel racing circuits like Champcars, as well as in radio controlled model airplanes.
When produced from wood or other organic materials, the resulting organic methanol (bioalcohol) has been suggested as renewable alternative to petroleum-based hydrocarbons.
However, one cannot use BA100 (100% bioalcohol) in modern petroleum cars without modification.

Measures include the use of bioenergy, reforestation, and the adoption of improved agricultural practices that help reduce emissions from agriculture while increasing production.
Bioenergy, or energy derived from biomass, includes fuelwood, charcoal, agricultural waste, energy crops, livestock manure, biogas, biohydrogen and bioalcohol.
It is one of the most important alternatives to fossil fuel in both developing and industrialized countries.

How the 2001 UK biodiesel Tax Break came about and Beyond
Initially, a representative from DETR was scheduled to speak on the "Assessment of biodiesel" but, following strong protests from both Peter Clery and myself that nobody at DETR knew what biodiesel was, Werner Korbitz of the Austrian Biofuels Institute was invited to speak instead.
In addition, there were guest speakers from AEA Technology (the guys who had got it wrong as ETSU!), the Swedish Bioalcohol Fuel Foundation and, of all people, Shell International.
Sadly, the DTI and DETR speakers rather made fools of themselves, misusing the word "sustainability" endlessly, confusing fossil gas fuels with renewables and generally demonstrating that they were anything but experts on the subject of transport fuels.
