Biohazard (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Biohazard was a band originally based out of Brooklyn, New York.
The accusations of racism in their music were something strenuously denied by the band but in later interviews, Seinfeld and Graziadei explained that it had been a publicity stunt to win over the band Carnivore and their fans.
The band felt betrayed and misunderstood by their label and as a result, severed their ties with the label amidst the merger of Mercury Records, Island Records, Def Jam Records and Polygram into the Universal Music Group.

Helmet (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Helmet is an American alternative metal band formed in New York City by Page Hamilton (vocals/guitar) with Henry Bogdan (bass), Peter Mengede (guitar) and John Stanier (drums) in 1989.
Helmet was acclaimed as a "Thinking person's heavy metal band." Eschewing the traditional heavy metal image of long hair and fl clothing, the band preferred simple sweaters and jeans, with short haircuts.
Their first Interscope release, 1992's Meantime, was produced entirely by the band and was certified gold in the US by 1994.

Biohazard was one of the first to fuse the bone-crunching power of hard-core metal with the social commentary and street sensibility of rap and have endured over a decade of musical, social and personal change to establish themselves as the true leaders of a musical revolution.
Born in 1988 out of a love for hard-core and an instinct for escaping the lure of the streets, Biohazard chose music over the downward spiral of drugs and violence lurking in the troublesome neighborhoods around them.
During the bands' downtime, the high visibility of being hard-core legends connected Evan with Tom Fontana landing him a high profile starring role portraying the prison convict "Jaz Hoyt" on HBO's critically acclaimed and award winning hit series "OZ".

 Biohazard // Bands // Lambgoat
BIOGRAPHICAL DATA: Conceived in 1988, New York's Biohazard were one of the originators of the rapcore sound (not the polished rapcore of today though), as it fused metalcore with the streetwise sensibilities of rap.
Biohazard's second full-length, "Urban Discipline," would be released by Roadrunner Records, and its sales would go on to top 200,000 units, as well as land the band's video on MTV's Headbanger's Ball.
Throughout Biohazard's long and turbulent career, the band has overcome many obstacles, while experiencing many successes, including working with Cypress Hill, Onyx, and a band member landing a roll on HBO's prison series, "Oz." Fans of NYC hardcore or rapcore should check out the one of the originators of both genres, Biohazard.

Inside Pulse v2 .::. The New Classics
Biohazard is an oft-overlooked metal act that is sadly underrated in the genre.
The band crafted an album that pulled the foundation from the early New York hardcore scene (the heavy, slow, down-tuned riffs) and mixed it with a punk attitude, not in sound, but in attitude.
When the band was able to focus solely on the material it was creating instead of what record companies wanted them to modify on each album (along with sales numbers and the rest of the "business" end of things) the results were fantastic, but by the time that happened only the die-hard fans were left.

Biohazard, along with openers Most Precious Blood, E-Town Concrete and Sworn Enemy will be whipping its fans into a frenzy at 9 tonight at Crowbar, 420 E. College Ave.
The last thing one expects to hear from a heavy-metal band is that it is a fan of Justin Timberlake, but lead singer of E-Town Concrete Anthony Martini does not deny that he digs the N'Sync hottie.
While people classify the band in the rap/rock category, Martini said his band mixes the elements of rap and rock in a way that is unlike other bands.

We usually have the chance to tour with bands that we've looked up to and some bands that we've grown to be good friends with.
And it turned out that bands happened to be in New York while we were recording and they just came down to the studio and we did some stuff together and it worked out.
My older brother came home once a few years ago from a Biohazard show with a bloody nose and a bloody Biohazard T-shirt and said "It was the fucking sickest show I ever went to in my life", and that's in a good way.

This was an obvious allusion to the 9/11 attacks that struck Biohazard's members particularly hard given their status as proud New Yorkers, however the heavy-handedness of it all made the band rethink and scrap those plans, though the eventual release under the new name would feature most of the same songs.
Whether it's just because their urban Metalcore narratives have gotten redundant over a decade on or the spark of creativity that made such material captivating at one point is gone can be debated.
The rap element of the group is downplayed somewhat, but Biohazard sounds tired; the riffs don't bite as much as sit there, the bravado sounds forced, and even the addition of guitarist Carmine Vincent, who was original member the band in the mid ‘80s before they started recording, doesn't spark the generic material within.
