  Biological Complexity Reviews: 2003
This review describes several behavioral plasticity paradigms in C. elegans and their underlying neuronal circuits and then goes on to review the forward genetic analysis that has been undertaken to identify genes involved in the execution of these behaviors.
In this review recent advances in the epitope mapping of autoantigens in connective tissue diseases are discussed, with particular emphasis placed on the methodologies used to identify epitopes and the classification of the structural features of epitopes.
Here, we review recent literature on the global analysis of subcellular organelles and briefly discuss how that information is being used to elucidate basic biological processes that range from cellular signaling pathways through protein-protein interactions to differential expression of proteins in response to external stimuli.

Large Print Reviews - Germs: Biological Weapons and America's Secret War
Even the good ol' U.S.A. had a secret, biological warfare department that energetically worked at the task of developing super bugs, that could easily be dispersed over the enemy target, and which could be designed merely to incapacitate the enemy, or to kill them outright.
Biological weapons created and manufactured by nation states is the primary focus of this book.
Rather to point out the history of America's biological weapons research, and to give the reader an idea of the threat that biological weapons currently pose - and the steps that can be taken to minimize their impact should an attack occur.

CSC - Intelligent Design: The Origin of Biological Information and the Higher Taxonomic Categories
They insist that “the molecular mechanisms that bring about biological form in modern day embryos should not be confused” with the causes responsible for the origin (or “origination”) of novel biological forms during the history of life (p.3).
Biological forms, by contrast, manifest greater complexity and derive in ontogeny from highly complex initial conditions--i.e., non-redundant sequences of nucleotide bases in the genome and other forms of information expressed in the complex and irregular three-dimensional topography of the organism or the fertilized egg.
This review, and much of the literature it has surveyed, suggests that four of the most prominent models for explaining the origin of biological form fail to provide adequate causal explanations for the discontinuous increases of CSI that are required to produce novel morphologies.

If you are interested in reviewing adult or teen fiction for us, or you have a novel you want us to consider for review, please contact her by email.
This is a defense of pluralism that does not celebrate diversity just for the sake of it (in fact the author does her best to separate her position from other "anything-goes" appeals of pluralism), but argues from metaphysical (nature of complex systems and their processes) and epistemological (limitation of our explanations) grounds.
The standard approach to the notion of scientific law admits that natural laws are contingent (their necessity is not logical), but they are understood according to a notion of necessity that mirrors logical necessity too closely.

 BIOM 801: Week 3
A quick way to differentiate a review from an article of some other type is by the length of the reference list; most review articles cite more than fifty references, and many cite more than a hundred.
Review articles are published in journals that also publish research, and in review journals (e.g., Biological Reviews,CRC Critical Reviews in Microbiology, Microbiological Reviews, Physiological Reviews, Quarterly Review of Biology), and in annual reviews (e.g., Advances in Morphogenesis, Current Topics in Cellular Regulation, Progress in Medical Virology).
To identify an annual review series you must check the publication itself, or a description of it, and verify that it is not a periodical and that it contains review articles.

 Biological Status Reviews
The resulting document is a comprehensive scientific review and analysis of the biological condition of a species being considered for listing under the ESA, or being considered for a change in its status under that law.
The BRT is convened to examine the biological conditions of the species, including current population, population trends, reasons for any population declines or improvements, factors that may put the species at risk, and a range of other factual aspects of a population’s condition.
The biological review team’s status review makes a recommendation to the regional administrator about whether the population is eligible for listing, and if so, if it needs ESA protection.

Reviews have appeared in a variety of publications, and vary in approach and scope.
Peer review is generally considered to be an important quality control mechanism in science, however the standards of peer review vary widely.
For example, Moulder and Foster wrote a skeptical review of the biological evidence related to cancer and power-frequency fields [11], while Savitz and Ahlbom gave greater credence to the epidemiologic evidence supporting a suggestion of risk [12].

The authors are extremely well-informed, and have mapped out the recent history of biological warfare developments in some depth, based on three years of careful research for the New York Times.
The problem is, despite ample warning, the US government has not treated this topic with the seriousness it deserves, relegating it to the back seat in concerns over nuclear proliferation and conventional chemical warfare (which is a second-best alternative, as all experts have realized for some time).

A biohazardous agent is biological, is capable of self-replication, and can produce deleterious effects upon other biological organisms, particularly humans.
The Dean of the Graduate School, or the dean's representative, reviews the Biological Safety Policy at least once a year and reports WSU activity, as required, to federal and state agencies.
