It is known that in a biplane the load is not distributed equally between the wings.
The purpose here is to determine the distribution of loads between the wings of a biplane at various angles of decalage, when the gap/chord ratio is one, and there is no stagger.
Since each test was carried up to to 90 degrees angle of attack, the results may be used in the study of stalled flight and of spinning as well as in the structural design of biplane wings.

The Fiat CR42, known as the "Falco" (falcon in English), was one of the last biplane fighters in the world, and first flew in 1938.
After 1940, CR42s were withdrawn from northern Europe, but fought on in Greece, the Balkans, and in north Africa, where they at least held there own against the antiquated RAF biplanes operating in that theatre.

In The Biplane Houses Les Murray, often considered to be Australia's greatest living poet, imaginatively travels across diverse times and places: from pre-modern England to Australia during World War I, from the British Museum to Norfolk Island.
The Biplane Houses doesn't always reach this pitch of strangeness or originality but it shows again that Murray is one of our most important poets because of his ineluctably strange way of saying.
His interest (indeed obsession) with the past, with family and with ancestors could be a way of making a home in the world, however strange that world may be.

There were numerous former grand champion biplanes on the field that made the balloting for the 2006 grand champions a very difficult and challenging choice.
It was, as always, a spring beauty contest of color, wings, and adventure, brought together by pilots from many parts of the country to celebrate the biplane, its legacy, its role in shaping aviation in the USA and in the world, and to rub shoulders with some of the most uniquely colorful characters in existence.
As the 20th Annual Biplane Expo came to a conclusion we judged it to be one of the very best in the long 20 year run of outstanding NBA aviation events showcasing the classic, traditional, historical biplane … without a doubt the NBA is pursuing a noble cause.

The Wrights combined their wing-warping control concept and the structural design of the Chanute-Herring glider in their first aircraft, a biplane kite with a 5-foot wingspan, built in July 1899.

It is shown that the lift distribution for a biplane with unequal chords may be calculated by the method developed in NACA Technical report no. 458 if corrections are made for the inequality in chord lengths.
The method is applied to four cases in which the upper chord was greater than the lower and good agreement is obtained between observed and calculated lift coefficients.

Researchers Sankar Chatterjee of Texas Tech University and R. Jack Templin of Ottawa, Canada, have found that Microraptor, one of the earliest feathered dinosaurs, might have used a staggered biplane configuration during flight.
The creature's second set of wings, which were attached to the legs, would have been more efficient if held forward to form a lower wing, rather than trailing behind to form double wings like those of a dragonfly.
