  Gypsy Moth: A Threat to Minnesota
While oak, poplar, birch and willow are a few of the preferred hosts (Table 3), the gypsy moth will feed on most deciduous trees and even on coniferous trees when hardwood foliage is not available and the caterpillars are in their final development stages.
To date, eradication efforts in Minnesota have been successful (Table 2) because pheromone traps are capable of detecting low-level populations and pinpointing the insect in an area.

The developer of Birch Lake Preserve has agreed to pay for the cost of fltopping July Avenue up to the entrance of the new development.
The township board debated the merits of looking for bids for July Avenue but eventually directed Township Engineer Mark Erichson to do some preliminary work and seek out bids for the project.
The board decided to authorize the township Engineer to write a letter to the DNR on behalf of the township and its citizens.

Farther west, apparently this stratum of sandstone occurs in the bluffs of the Souris River, near its most southern bend, and in hills within the area of the loop formed by this river, where other glacial striæ may probably be found.

The house was 14 feet by 20 feet; the logs were hewn on the inside only; the covering was of birch bark and dirt, with two windows and one door; and the floor was laid of rough boards of various widths procured from a sawmill near Osakis; the outside walls were plastered with clay.
