Birds which are capable of mimicking human speech not only provide hours of entertainment, but make for an interesting conversation piece and some hilarious moments with family and friends.
When teaching your pet bird make sure that all other noises and distractions are minimized as much as possible – so switch off the TV and close the doors leading to the room for some peace and quiet.
Birds tend to find it easier to mimic a child’s or woman’s voice than they do a man´s so if you are struggling to get the bird to understand, try raising your pitch but not your volume.

Flocking birds cause havoc in the air
Bird strikes are more likely to occur in the earlier months of the year and spikes in incidents are usually in line with bird migration and feeding patterns.
Airlines are required by legislation to report a bird strike within 72 hours of the event, but even the sight of bloodied feathers or a squashed carcass on the side of a runway is reported to the bureau.
Bird strike is viewed so seriously by the aviation industry that each species of bird is given a hazard rating worked out by how many incidents involved one type of bird combined with the damage it causes to aircraft.

When the bird finally came in for the night, at about 16:00 hours, it was fazed, confused, and perturbed by the cleanliness around it and took about 20 minutes just sitting and turning around repeatedly, before finally settling to roost for the night.
The bird in box 2 is still sitting quietly on the unhatched eggs (well, they were unhatched on the 12th and all present and correct).
It was suggested by email, that the reason there were so few birds in June and the first part of July is that the newly hatched young were being attended to in the wild by their parents and siblings, and there was in June a plentiful supply of natural food.

Pick up all injured birds from the back of the bird, as it is easier to control their wings and feet, and there is less change of causing further damage and stress to the bird.
Birds definitely feel pain and fear, but do not show it, as in the wild, any bird or animal which shows it has been injured quickly becomes a target for other birds and animals, and is killed.
Birds not infrequently fly into windows, confused by the reflections of the sky (or trees), or (when defending territory), flying aggressively towrds the bird they see in the window (their own reflection).

The Sound of one Wing Flapping
To introduce a bird visually without an attack is to tease the audience with a red herring, and so Hitchcock cannot manipulate the visuals as freely for suspense as he does the soundtrack.
Although we see birds during the titles (the titles, as abstracted as the soundtrack, are presented as fragments that converge and then disintegrate), we do not see a truck till their close, when a van roars by shortly after a trolley car, on a busy San Francisco street where Melanie is walking.
A close-up of the love birds swaying on their perches as she rounds the corners too fast is accompanied by the sound of screeching tires and shifting gears.

The birds will stay in the shed until they are 72 weeks old at which time their productivity begins to fall and there is a rise in age-related disease which causes a natural increase in flock mortality (such as the development of prolapse uterus condition, egg peritonitis).
From the outside the noise is a loud rumble of clucking but as soon as the door into the shed is opened, a floor full of chooks changes to a high pitch call and the birds immediately begin running towards the entrance to investigate.

News that the North American bird had been sighted in Arkansas for the first time since the 1940s caused a sensation when it was announced in April.

The team sorted through over 18,000 hours of material, eliminating noises from gunshots and other sources, to find about 100 double knocks that bear a strong resemblance to the display drumming of the ivory-bill's closest relatives.

 Birds of Westwood: Yellow-Chevroned Parakeet
The feral population of this species probably began in the 1970s, when large numbers of the birds started to be imported from their native South America to be sold as pets.
Initial populations were probably established from birds that escaped, either from the crates they were imported in (which were opened for inspection upon arrival), or from owners.
When Peru banned export of those and other birds in 1973, the demand for such pet birds was met by increased imports from other countries, mostly Bolivia, where they have the Yellow-Chevroned Parakeets instead of the White-Winged ones.
