Everywhere we’ve added to our list of identified wildflowers – over 50 new kinds already.
Coastal decorators like beach pea, pointed blue-eyed grass, and yellow and orange hawkweed; forest plants like bunchberry, bluebead lily, foamflower and wild sarsaparilla; and exotic-sounding flowers like fringed polygala, birdsfoot trefoil and painted trillium.
All our hikes require the carrying of the Audubon book, lest we happen upon an unknown burst of color at our feet.
