Birdwell, who once wrote software to create custom shoe insoles, was the man tasked with making more-believable characters for Half-Life 2--characters who could express emotions through their faces and have full musculatures, as evidenced by the breast demonstration.

Professors may have found Sgt. York site - Boston.com
These rusted shell casings, shown in a photo from Mar. 6-10, near the French village of Chatel-Chehery, are believed to have been fired by Sgt. Alvin C. York when he single-handedly stopped a band of German machine gunners and captured more than a hundred prisoners of war.
The precise location of the fight, immortalized in a 1941 Oscar-winning film starring Gary Cooper, has long been disputed, but two researchers from York's home state of Tennessee say they unearthed spent shell casings they believe to be from York's rifle this month from a site near Chatel-Chehery, France.
Nolan and Birdwell superimposed that historical data onto a modern topographic map and downloaded it to a handheld global positioning system device.
