The Bishop of St Albans is the Ordinary of the Church of England Diocese of St Albans in the Province of Canterbury.
The cathedral building itself was an abbey church (part of St Albans Abbey) prior to the Dissolution of the Monasteries, then a parish church (purchased by the town in 1553) until its elevation to cathedral status in 1877.
The Bishop's residence is Abbey Gate House, Abbey Mill Lane, St Albans, Hertfordshire.

St Albans (thus spelt, no apostrophe or dot) is the main urban area of the City and District of St Albans in southern Hertfordshire, England, around 22 miles (35.5km) north of central London.
St Albans School, which occupies a site to the West of the Abbey and includes the former Norman Abbey Gateway, was founded in AD 948 and is the only school in the English-speaking world to have educated a Pope.
St Albans is home to one of the country's oldest and finest indoor skateparks at the Pioneer Youth Club, in Heathlands Drive, next to the fire station.

Bishop Christopher was born in Lydney in the Forest of Dean in 1944.
Bishop Christopher was educated at Monmouth School for Boys and went on to read Biblical Studies and Philosophy at the University of Wales, Lampeter.

As with most cathedrals, St Albans is a mixture of architectural styles, however the distinction between the different styles, and the transitions from one style to another are particularly pronounced.
However St Albans does have its own parish communion with parish choir on a Sunday morning, before the more formal sung eucharist service with the abbey choir, and from what I remember from a previous visit, there's a pretty thriving community that attends it.
When the bishop was talking about the laying on of hands at confirmation being a sign of God laying his hands upon you, it reminded me of my own confirmation, and as it was as though I felt God laying his hands on me again.

The Revd Spencer Buller moved from Holy Trinity, Twickenham and was inducted by the Bishop of St Albans as the first vicar of the newly created parish of St Peter’s, Bushey Heath on the 19th July 1889.
