BitchX is an IRC client which grew out of a script for the ircII client.
I contend that BitchX is the most retarded IRC client ever devised, flawed from the start by ridiculous design decisions.
It just floods IRC with tides of misconfigured clients all behaving in excessively lame ways because those same people who could only fuck up their IRC life enough to shoot themselves in the foot now are running a client that inflicts it's bogosity on the rest of us.

Let me put it straight right away; I didn’t get bx to work reliably on amd64 and I don’t have the necessary C knowledge nor enthusiasm to endulge myself in finding the problems.

Now I can start BitchX in a 64bit linux and it will work as expected and without crashes; however, it will be the 32bit version.

BitchX is sometimes known as the 'hackers irc client', mainly because of it's advanced IRC features/hacks and because of it's cryptic interface.
BitchX has tab-completion, which means that you only have to enter part of the name, i.e 'Ze' and then can press the tab key, and bitchx will complete the name from 'Ze' to 'Zetion' if possible.
I.e: when something is said on the channel, bitchx internally takes this as a couple of fields, namely the time it was said, the nickname of who said it and the hostname of who said it.

Not one time has BitchX ever had a release where intentional backdoors or hacks in the client were inserted for intent and use to abuse or cause issues with persons from a remote standpoint.
While the project has come to a slowdown in development because of a changing of the guard, it does not mean that the standards of the clients release policy have changed.

This one is straight from ur sysadmin phil :0) While in chat using BitchX and you wish to leave for a short period like if you have to mail some one quickly.
It is possible to change some of the settings in BitchX (bah it's a *unx program what did you expect :0)) to see which variables there is in BitchX type /set.

Through a stack overflow in the DNS parsing code, a malicious remote user in control of their reverse DNS records may crash a bitchx session, or cause arbitrary code to be executed by the user running bitchx.
The bitchx port is not installed by default, nor is it "part of FreeBSD" as such: it is part of the FreeBSD ports collection, which contains over 4200 third-party applications in a ready-to-install format.
If you have not chosen to install the bitchx port/package, then your system is not vulnerable to this problem.
