Bitpop EP Sign up to be notified of new releases by:
Scene stalwart and karl-marx-stadt affiliate geroyche dropped this interesting slice of downbeat breakcore electronics back in 2003 on suburban trash industries to a warm reception from the breakcore fraternity.
More usually associated with the ragga/frantic end of the breakcore spectrum the bitpop ep explores more submerged options with emphasis on textured drones and illbience melded with post hardcore breakbeats, similar in scope (not so much heaviness) to DJ Scud's wasteland project.

your life my life is bitpop as britpop, a little bit like pulp, with bishi most cocker-y in her delivery of “all the choices that we make / tonight this could be my mistake / but then – maybe not.”
the bitpop ep is out now on brainlove records (in association with kashpoint) in a handmade edition of 50.

[...but in any case it takes a little more to impress nowadays.] That might be found on Geroyche's "Bitpop" ep (practically a short lp), which is in the direction of ambient glitch, where the crackling sounds are more discreet, and creates a hazy background for broad, floating (and usually a bit melancholy) synth harmonies.
The combination of melodic elements and digital error-rythms is mostly not that new, but Geroyches music is nevertheless brilliant, based on a warm and open soundspace, closer to classic chill out than indie introversion.
And furthermore, Bitpop has a couple of surprizes in the first and last track, going into more unusual and disturbing areas.

Some might say this song is more of an experiment in repetition and variety (like most songs) and that the variety is lacking, but I think it's just enough, which is why it has been one of my favorites for years.
