Topic: Bj rk album

  Bjork
At the age of 11, her eponymous first album was released; the record contained covers of several pop songs, including the Beatles' "Fool on the Hill," and boasted artwork from her mother and guitar work from her stepfather.
KUKL released two albums, The Eye (1984) and Holidays in Europe (1986), on Crass Records before the band metamorphosed into the Sugarcubes in the summer of 1986.
Late in 1996, Bj”rk released Telegram, an album comprised of radical remixes of the entire Post album in the U.K.; Telegram was released in America in January 1997.

Bj÷rk - Debut - NuEra Entertainment   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Her first album following the breakup of the Sugarcubes, Debut is Icelandic trickster Björk's statement of purpose: bringing curious experimentalism to the dance floor and putting her startling, expressive voice front and center.
One of the essential albums by a solo artist in the 90's, this is an indispensable release.
Although I am partial to Post as my favorite Bjork album, Debut is an excellent place to start for those interested in checking her out for the first time.More dance-oriented than her subsequent releases, Debut was 4-5 years ahead of its time upon its release in 1993.

However, she had made her "debut" proper as far back as 1977, with an album recorded in her native territory as an 11-year old prodigy (including cover versions of pop standards by the Beatles and others).
The band's two albums were issued in the UK on the Crass label.
Though she received critical plaudits for her seemingly tireless musical invention, the album was also notable for lyrics revealing a more personal side to the singer, reflecting on her troubled year.

An album released by the group in 1992, Apocalypse, was produced by Bill Laswell.
As with Talvin's last album, 'OK', it is a fusion of traditional and contemporary music; it is a blend of the hallucinogenic and hypnotic sound of the Master Musicians of Jajouka, with the cutting edge of dance, techno and drum and bass loops.
They are striving to keep their way of performing alive and this album helps to bring them to a contemporary audience.

When the album was completed, the group was unable to obtain distribution in either the UK or the US, but Banks and Foxx continued to record as "Empire" with an assortment of other backing musicians.
But the album's main attraction is its extensive instrumental work, comprising sunbursts of effects organ, Mellotron strings, a few baroque electric piano embellishments and even rudimentary synth riffs and glissandi, giving the music a both sunny and spacey feel that takes it from pastures green to gulfs interstellar.
Since their third album failed to raise a major interest in the times of new-wave and techno-pop, Berge decided to break away from the band in order to purse a solo career.

TWAS 97: Rachel's, Aube, Aube / Cock E.S.P., Diamanda Galas
If an album of instrumental music that tells a story is too concrete for you, though, there's always Aube, Akifumi Nakajima's prolific one-man sound laboratory, more abstract music than which you will be hard-pressed to find.
When I say this album consists of shrieking, I mean that it is punctuated, at frequent enough intervals that there is no question of skipping to "the other parts", by the sound of a woman who could launch a thousand ships by lung capacity screaming at the highest volume and intensity level she can muster.
So, we are left with the reality that I now own an album that I will not feel free to play again until I purchase and move to a former bank building rezoned residential, and install a stereo system in the vault.

Rolling Stone Album Review - May 14, 1998
A veteran of one failed rock album, a spandex debacle titled Y Kant Tori Read, Amos recharged herself on Little Earthquakes, emerging as a hennaed adventuress, the rare art-rock communicator who could flawlessly drop difficult bits of Bela BartÛk into a tasty home-brew of the classical and the lowdown.
Old enough to have worshiped Led Zeppelin as a Seventies kid -- and bold enough to seize "Smells Like Teen Spirit" as her own (on 1992's Crucify EP) -- she recognized that grunge's uneasy blend of emotional distress and sonic kicks represented a state of mind as well as a guitar sound.
A woolly jam dynamic pervades Hotel, from the paisley metallicism that kicks off "Spark" (the current single) to the grooving dream world of "Liquid Diamonds." Throughout the album, Amos throws herself and her various keyboards into bass-drum-guitar ensembles augmented by percussion loops and string sections.

"Björk, Sting, Dylan Up For Oscars") is putting the final touches on her next album, which carries a May 22 release date and a new title, Vespertine, according to her publicist at Elektra Records.
Produced by Björk herself, the new LP logged some quality flight time in its developing stages, as parts were recorded in London, New York, Spain, Denmark and her native Iceland.
The album also features contributions from San Francisco experimental electronic duo Matmos as well as filmmaker Harmony Korine ("Kids," "Gummo"), who wrote lyrics for the song "Harm of Will." Videos for the songs "Cocoon," "Hidden Place" and "It's Not Up to You" will begin filming in March and April, according to the spokesperson.

 Wonderful Album! | Post review | Bjork | GoldLyrics.com
I'm still wanting more; this is the first album of hers that I've bought.
It's jazzy, it's danceable, and as the admirable person below me says, "Hyperballad" and "Possibly Maybe" are the two best songs on the album -- "Hyperballad" is somewhat fast-paced, but very sad and captivating, while "Possibly Maybe" is slow, very jazz-inspired, and to be blunt, depressing as hell.
Björk's voice works well with every song on the album, and you shouldn't be disappointed.

The band 30 Seconds To Mars, consisting by Jared Leto (the Hollywood actor seen in for example 'Fight Club' and 'Requiem For A Dream'), Shannon Leto, Matt Wachter and Tomo Milicivitch, released a new album at the end of last month, called 'A Beautiful Lie'.
As the album was leaked a full five months before its release, the band decided to include two new "bonus" tracks, one of them being a cover of Björk's 'Hunter', which one reviewer described as an "absinthe-soaked techno rendering".
You can hear a sample of the cover on this page.
