Black Creek Masonic Heritage: The purpose of the Masonic Lodge at Black Creek Pioneer Village is to present Masonry in a favourable light to the many visitors who tour the village each year and to give them a better understanding of the place of Freemasonry in the social fabric of an 1867 crossroads rural community.
The Black Creek Masonic Heritage Committee shall consist of a Chairman, a Secretary, five Weekly Captains, the Supervisor of Education and Interpretation at Black Creek Pioneer Village and several Interpreters who are interested in serving on the Committee.
Black Creek Pioneer Village is a heritage project of the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.

As noted on the Black Creek Pioneer Village website, the ceremony venues rent for $375 outside of peak hours and $450 between 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM while the village is open to the public.
However, Black Creek has since packaged the menu choices with a pre-determined quantity and selection of the previous options, and is selling them as all-inclusive wedding packages.

HH Bhaktimarga Swami was full of questions for the 'pioneers' (employees of the Village dressed as citizens of the time), and we learned a lot about the austere life of the 1800s in Ontario.
The pioneers were a great example of how to live life simply, not waste any resources, and to keep religion a central part of life.
Although the pioneers were not particularly Krsna Conscious, they did live according to the principles of Varnashrama Dharma (i.e., male and female roles according to Vedic scriptures, self-sufficient community which is God-centered); we should respect them for this.

Aside from the expression and idea of "the global village," McLuhan's best-known phrase is "the medium is the message." This stems from his early theory that the medium of communication -- speech, print, radio, telegraph, telephone, TV, etc. -- actually shapes a message sent and received in that medium.

The inaugural Avonlea Convention, held on July 24th and 25th 2004 at Toronto’s Black Creek Pioneer Village, was deemed a resounding success by attendees, special guests and organizers, who are now busy planning the 2005 Convention for next summer.
