Black Sunday - DVD Movie Central
Black Sunday was initially released back in 1977, it was quite harmless to make a film about a deadly terrorist threat, no matter how realistic the plot scenario is or could be.
Black Sunday in the aftermath of such recent terrorist attacks around the world, especially that of 9/11, it’s a much more thought-provoking experience because you simply can’t help but think that such a similar situation struck our nation not too long ago.
Black Sunday from other movies about terrorist activity is that for once, the terrorists aren’t portrayed as one-dimensional characters, but as real people who happen to be soulless as a part of their cause.

Black Sunday (1977): Robert Shaw, Bruce Dern, Marthe Keller - PopMatters Film Review
Ultimately, Black Sunday simultaneously supports Kabakov's vigilante justice (since his methods actually prevent the massacre at the Super Bowl), while maintaining that the U.S. can preserve democratic ideals (such roundabout rationalizing is familiar from vigilante movies like Dirty Harry [1971] and Death Wish [1974], though these films also reveal the costs of such aggression).
But Black Sunday does not celebrate this "victory," as its final image of Kabakov swinging wildly from a helicopter implies his own precarious position: a covert agent useful when times are dire but never officially acknowledged.
Black Sunday identifies political allegiances, personal history, national sovereignty, and "free market" capitalism, as these determine policy decisions and global conflicts, underlining that contemporary U.S. debates on terrorism and foreign policy lack a similar complexity.

Lucas even proposes a radical reading of Black Sunday as potentially reworked in post editorial (a Savant fascination): He calmly explains evidence that suggests that some of Barbara's scenes as the virginal Katia may have been originally shot to suggest that 'Katia' was being impersonated by the (literally) verminous Witch Asa.
