Black and White (1999 film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Black and White is a 1999 film directed by James Toback, starring a cast of young actors and celebrities including Elijah Wood, Claudia Schiffer, Brooke Shields, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr.
The movie also notably features Ben Stiller in a rare dramatic role as a sleazy police detective, as well as Mike Tyson playing himself.
The movie vaguely explores the relationships between different Black and White people in New York, New York circa 2000.

Black and White (2000): Power, Bijou Phillips, Raekwon, Claudia Schiffer - PopMatters Film Review
"Black and white: what happens," asks the film's tagline, "when you mix it up?" No doubt, this is an intriguing and immediately relevant question: white kids consume hip-hop, fl kids aspire to hip-hop wealth and fame, fl and white kids spend time, money, and bodily fluids with one another.
Tyson fulfills the conservative white culture's fantasy that fl men are dangerous and wild, and Terry/Downey's overtures just happen to be the predictable and apparently "comic" stimulus (the film's sympathy for and understanding of its gay characters are, shall we say, limited).
White guys are left out of this new sex-and-violence power dynamic, left to be gay or ignored or generally enfeebled by comparison to their amazing fl male rivals.

Black and White is the first film that I know of to examine how white kids emulate fl kids, thus blurring the line between the two.
The movie itself is put together the same way, in that there are different stories present, all of which overlap in interesting and intriguing ways.
Black and White is not for the mainstream, but those looking for a different kind of film will do well by watching this one.

Black & White is one of the most anticipated games of this year, and for good reason.
Like Populous, Black & White is a "God game" of sorts; and although you are not specifically a deity--you are an interloping mage from another dimension--you do have godlike powers over the inhabitants of a strange little land, a perfectionist little place called Eden.
But unlike Dungeon Keeper with its fairly static creatures, the monsters of Black & White are meant to be custom-built and individually trained, literally bred for whatever role you as the evil genius demand.

It is a known fact that Hattie McDaniel and the other fl actors in Gone With The Wind could not attend the star-studded premiere of that movie in Atlanta in 1939 due to the rigid segregation in the South.
On the other hand, Halle Berry's movie is about the exploration of the growing love between her fl waitress character and Thornton's white cop character.
Of course, McDaniel's acting did not represent what she really believed fl women were actually like; her characters were nothing more than the mirror of white America's false assumptions of what fl women should be like.

Black and White takes the ideas of toying with good and bad, and the concept of religion, or human belief rather (as addressed in Populous, and Dungeon Keeper), and just takes them to another level.
In short, Black and White introduces three revolutionary concepts: The Creatures, reflection of one's personality in a video game, and an intelligent way of asking some fundamental, existentialistic questions.

Black Cat, White Cat is not a masterpiece, for sure -- but it feels as wildly fresh and original as just about anything we saw this year.
The subtext of Black Cat, White Cat lies precisely at this borderline between politics and anthropology, describing (as opposed to explaining) in astonishing detail the way this world exists.
But most of these realizations come after the movie, during the film it’s hard to take one’s eyes (or, for that matter, ears: the soundtrack is irresistible) off the screen.

The position presented by the movie Black and White that White youth are playfully engaging in Black culture as an antagonistic rebellion to middle class value systems could be viewed as narrow and unsupported by the recent growth in localised Hip Hop cultures in countries around the world.
