		Photographic film is a sheet of plastic (polyester, celluloid (nitrocellulose) or cellulose acetate) coated with an emulsion containing light-sensitive silver halide salts (bonded by gelatin) with variable crystal sizes that determine the sensitivity and resolution of the film.
		Black and white reversal film exists, but is uncommon — one of the reasons reversal films are popular among professional photographers is the fact that they are generally superior to print films with regards to color reproduction.

		In cross processing Kodachrome with fl and white chemicals, a longer developing time is required to process all the fl and white layers than is possible with automated equipment, and to compensate for this it is best to OVEREXPOSE your film by two f/stops.

		Kodak reformulated these films to accomodate a new fl and white reversal process that uses a new environmentally safe bleach and a higher energy developer.
		I have not tested these new films or process combinations, nor do I currently have the new formulae (the Kodak D-94a developer and the R-10 bleach) - but Kodak said that it would be releasing the formulas around December of 2003 on their webpage.
		Kodak's guidelines for Black and White processing, general - very helpful 101 info on film processing, covering subjects such as replenishment, etc. Movie films use developer D-96 instead of D-76, although experimentation with those formulae may be interesting.

		BandW reversal first developers work to a higher contrast and also contain a mild complexing agent (a "silver halide solvent") that removes a bit of the silver halide (equivalent to fixing slightly /while/ developing).
		By re-exposing the film to light and re-developing (with a second developer or by directly toning the silver halide that remains) you create a silver positive.

		It has a beautiful deep fl, fine grain, is very clear and sharp and 1 stop more sensitive that the old 7276.

		Tech Pan is a tough film to work with normally and reverse processing it is no exception to that.
		But the fine grain characteristics and tonal qualities of the film more than make up for the slow speed (I shoot at EI 12 for reversal) and the tight controls needed for processing.
		Anyway, in a more general theme, any fl and white negative film can be reverse processed.

		I have an old Minolta 16 and was wondering if it would be worth the trouble to buy reversal film and process to negative or if this is even possible.
		Okay, to actually answer your question, yes, Tri-X Reversal and Plus-X Reversal can be developed to negatives after exposure in your Minolta 16; those are the actual films Minolta loaded in their cassettes before they started respooling 110 stock in the 1970s (and thus got the same emulsion as 35 mm still films).
		Of course, if you have a lab that can handle the film and printing or a means of scanning at sufficient resolution, you'd then also have access to all the C-41 and even E-6 stocks sold in 120.
