Moonstone Since that time, Moonstone Hill, which is surrounded by the Blackbraes National Park, has become a small multiple-use Resources Reserve.This Reserve was gazetted in 1998 under the Nature Conservation Act 1992, under the joint trusteeship of the Director-General, Department of Environment and Heritage, and the Director-General, Department of Mines and Energy. It should also be mentioned that fossicking at the Chudleigh Park peridot field that lies to the south also produces some specimens of moonstone that occurs together with the peridot and (occasionally) some sapphire. a word of caution... Our destination was the newly gazetted Blackbraes National Park, marked on the latest RACQ map 104km south of the Lynd on the Kennedy Developmental Road, approx. On returning to Townsville we contacted the Qld Parks and Wildlife Service asking if signage could be provided at Hughenden and at the Lynd Junction and also information on the QPWS website.
