Blackburn railway station is a railway station that serves the town of Blackburn in Lancashire.
The station is well connected with public transport in Blackburn, with the bus station situated directly in front of the station building.
The other line runs 'east - west' and is served by trains from Blackpool and Preston in the west travelling to Burnley, Colne, Leeds and as far as York in the east.

 Charles Tiplady: The Iron Road
As an active member of Blackburn's business community, Charles Tiplady was keen to be involved in the promotion and development of the railway from the very beginning, recognising the great benefits that improved communications with the outside world would bring to the town.
The new railway station was seen as a great asset to the town, being built in the Italian style by local contractors Stones and Hacking.
Ironically both companies were absorbed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in 1859, the first chairman of which was Blackburn's inaugural mayor, William Henry Hornby Esq.

NOT content with already having made Blackburn's railway station one of the hardest in the country to reach by car, the so-called "experts" behind planning and highways at Blackburn with Darwen Council seem to want to make getting into the town centre virtually impossible.
But even though the council is now admitting that the Blackburn Inner Relief Road is unlikely to ever get off the drawing board, these faceless people are quite happy to press on with their plans, oblivious to the effects this will have on traders already reeling from the ban on A-boards and street displays.
Slicing my way through the carefully-worded council agendas with their mind-numbing jargon, I see that councillors are considering "increasing pedestrian flows", "restricting traffic flows" and adding street furniture to Church Street, Darwen Street and Mincing Lane..
