  Blackdown History
The land on which fldown camp was built had been purchased by the war department in the 1880`s, and the land on which the present RAOC training centre stands was formally part of the estate of Mr William Henry of Wykeham Park, Frimley.
Blackdown camp at the time consisted of two lots of Barracks, the south end of the Blackdown camp was known as Deepcut and the North end (where the RAOC training depot used to be and were more recently the apprentices college stood), was known as Blackdown and housed two infantry battalions.
The new ROAC headquarters and training centre was opened officially by her majesty the queen, The Colonel in Chief of the Corps, in May 1972.

I was a member of the class of 9903 army cadet selection process and I have to say I haven't and probably won't ever have a thrill as exciting as jumping out the port side of a cc 130 hercules with 120lbs of winter configuration on...cheers to my class and everyone else.
