		When Blacky finally visits the Point — after a violent and tragic incident which shakes his whole view of his town and himself — he’s amazed to find that the stories about the Nungas ripping the doors and windows off their homes aren’t true.

		Coming with another boring repetitive track, Lil Blacky chorus chimes in "Au-to-matic, locked and loaded, I got a notion to cause an explosion." These guys are overachievers, they are trying to hard to be rough rugged and gun toting thugs.
		All the hardship and troubles and set backs can really get you down sometimes, and Blacky tries his best to make you feel it like it really is. A soulful crooner provides the chorus singing, "Somebody please, give me just a minute, too late too late.." over a James Brown sounding 70's style beat.

	Howe Home, The Listener; The Band of Blacky Ranchette, Still Lookin' Good to Me
		It's Western-influenced, jazz-inflected rock, deceptively low-key but fairly bursting with musical and lyrical ideas, and the tunes are the kind that worm their way into your consciousness and settle in for a long stay.
		Oh, and I should mention that the Blacky disc ends with a live recording of a song titled "Square," which Gelb co-wrote with the late Rainer Ptacek.
		If you're tired of the usual verse-chorus-verse, and are willing to give something a little out of the mainstream a chance, either or both of these would be a good choice.

		Touching, contemplative, reassuringly good fun and endearingly playful, this is one of the best American backwater albums to slip out in 2003, regardless of the authorship and of the genre in which it belongs.
