  Allister - Before The Blackout - AbsolutePunk.net
“Blackout” is a dark and hard-hitting track that is full of sharp guitar parts, tribal drumming, and a chorus that’ll have you shouting along to in the car.
While the lyrical content of the album is nothing new, the musical aspect on this album is much better than what Allister has given us in the past.
So, even though this album lacks some lasting power and the first half of the album is weak, the passion and enthusiasm shown throughout is never lacking, making this a must-own for any pop-punk fan.

The song was released on her 2004 album Billie's Bones.
The Dropkick Murphys recorded an unreleased song of his, titled 'Gonna Be A Blackout Tonight' on their 2003 album Blackout.
Woody Guthrie is also a featured part of the band Son Volt's 2005 album "Okemah and the Melody of Riot" and is mentioned by name in the first track on that album, "Bandages and Scars".

Their fifth (and latest) studio album is The Warrior's Code and was released on June 21st of 2005.
There is rumored a sixth studio album yet to be recorded, but the band confirmed that it may not happen until likely towards the end of 2006 or beginning of 2007.
On the new album, the song "Wicked Sensitive Crew" seems to have a message referring to the Dropkick Murphys being portrayed as testosterone fuelled fighting men.

 [No title]
Sure their heavier sound and jagged pairing of punk, rap and metal was never as friendly as that of their peers; But despite their aggressive nature they still managed to become widely regarded as one of the only bands who were ever able to get the mix down right.
Times have changed however and the expiry date for the aforementioned hybrid seems to be rapidly approaching and as such, the band have now returned with "Blackout", an album that is not only a reinvention, but also a decided stab at commercial success.
While this does work well on a number of the latter tracks included there are still a more than a few songs that wind up sounding lackluster, with a lack of heart shining through underneath their aspirations to win over the ear of general public.

By looking at this album's tracklist, you can easily see that two of the band's biggest hits were originally recorded for this album - the fast, furious and heavy title track, and the mainstream-oriented power rocker, No One Like You.
Most importantly, this album stands the test of time and is as powerful today as it was 20 years ago.
Blackout is seen by many as the point where the Scorpions became what they'd be known as throughout the 80's.

Scorpions : Blackout - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Blackout was the Scorpions' first majorly successful album, due to its clever balance of pop/rock (the title track), power ballads ("When the Smoke Is Going Down"), and catchy heavy metal ("Dynamite," "No One Like You").
The rest of the band sounds great as well, and the album is highlighted by the fast-paced performances of guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs.
Blackout has arguably been called the Scorpions' best record ever, and that statement is not unjust -- it has more energy than anything else they have ever released.

When approached a year ago by Woody Guthrie’s daughter Nora with the prospect of putting some of her legendary father’s unpublished lyrics to music, the net result was the fiery punk firecracker that became the title track to DKM’s fourth studio set.
The band decided that instead of trying to recreate the sounds of the first two albums with an almost entirely different line-up, they'd go back to their Celtic roots.
Although the themes are the same on this album as in the first three, and all their singles and EPs, this album shows they're losing their grip.

Epitaph Records: Dropkick Murphys - Blackout
Rating: A- On their sixth album, Boston punks Dropkick Murphys set some unpublished Woody Guthrie lyrics to rowdy Celtic-flavored rock that'll send Billy Bragg and Wilco running for cover ("Gonna Be A Blackout Tonight"), then stomp through some swaggering anthems and teary Guinness weepers.
Their gnarly presentation captured on The Gangs All Here (1999) and Sing Loud, Sing Proud (2001) is in full effect, but the punk rockers go beyond their signature rowdy style for their bravest and tightest material to date.
The Dropkick's version of an unpublished Woody Guthrie song ("Gonna Be a Blackout Tonight") is raw spirited punk rock and evidence of the band's classic Celtic-inspired style.

Blank Blackout Vacant, MP3 Album Music Download at eMusic
Though not quite the shotgun blast of an album that its predecessor, Feel the Darkness, was, Blank Blackout Vacant is nonetheless an ample testimony to Poison Idea's unbridled power and force.
Suffused with enough hate, pain, and rage to fuel an entire army, Jerry A.'s vocals, positively dripping with bile and venom, certainly cement his ideas with passion and force.
While not quite the bellowing, fire-breathing beast that is Feel the Darkness, Blank Blackout Vacant is a more varied, eclectic piece of work from this veteran American hardcore band.

PTI - Blackout album review - Smother Magazine
Harsh gutwrenching assaults on the ear was the job description.
Looking towards the likes of Nitzer Ebb and Front 242 as influences, PTI brings the genre back to the pioneering days of old when clubs were dark and dank drawing only the fringes of gothic society.
“Blackout” could easily be set next to any of the best of the EBM world with songs like “IDentify” and “Databass” having “club hit single” in their near destiny.

Allister - Before the Blackout album review - Smother Magazine
I was really anticipating the new Allister album following up their first two great full-length albums.
Their unique trademark punk sound is poppy but nowhere close to the obnoxious mall punk nonsense instead they mix in some old fashioned raunchy rock-n-roll.
They still seem to have that DIY ethic that brought them this far despite being on the same label that found Dashboard Confessional and a horde of other successful acts.

He uses everything from oils, acrylics, computers, inks, crayons, costumes, and set design; and his work has inspired articles, films, television shows, and books.
Even down to the only thing you late on the fashion bandwagon, rock T-shirt-clad readers might be familiar with, the bandaged-faced, forked-eyed self-portrait on that Scorpions album "Blackout" (which, regardless of our opinion on the quality of the music, is still a sick picture), Helnwein has managed to master the surreal.
So why is it you may never have heard of such a brilliant purveyor of radical work?
