Blair Castle stands in its grounds near the village of Blair Atholl in Perth and Kinross in Scotland.
The Castle is said to have been started in 1269 by John Comyn, Earl of Badenoch, a northern neighbour of the Earl of Atholl, who started building on the Earl's land while he was away on crusade.
Lowland Clan Agnew held Blair Castle, seat of the Duke of Atholl, against the Jacobites who laid siege to the castle during the Jacobite uprising of 1745-1746.

Blair Atholl (Blàr an Athall in Gaelic) is a small town in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, built about the confluence of the Rivers Tilt and Garry in one of the few areas of flat land in the midst of the Grampian Mountains.
Blair Atholl's most famous feature is Blair Castle (865 662_region:GB_scale:25000 NN 865 662), one of Scotland's premier stately homes, and the last castle in the British Isles to be besieged, in 1746 during the last Jacobite Rebellion.

 Blair Castle
Blair Castle lies at the southern end of the Drumochter Pass and, together with Ruthven Castle at the north end, was built by the Comyn family to secure their power right across the Scottish Highlands.
Blair Castle was first built around Comyn's Tower in 1269, and by the time of Mary Queen of Scots' visit in 1564, the castle had been extended southwards to include the Great Hall.
The castle itself stands in impressive scenery and was restyled as a Georgian mansion in the middle of the eighteenth century.
