Dynasty (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As the series opened, tycoon Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) was about to marry Krystle Jennings (Linda Evans), a younger woman whom he met when she took a job as a secretary at his company, the monolithic Denver-Carrington.
In the 1988-1989 season, Linda Evans departed the series - Krystle Carrington was sent to Switzerland for emergency surgery, where she fell into a coma, with the door left open for Evans to return at a later stage.
In early drafts of the pilot script the two main families featured in the series, the Carrington and Colby families, were written as Parkhurst and Corby respectively.

In the early episodes, there were a number of cross-overs featuring members of the Dynasty cast, notably Blake Carrington (John Forsythe), his son Adam Carrington (Gordon Thomson) and half-sister Dominique Devereux (Diahann Carroll).
Jeff Colby (John James): The son of Francesca and Jason (though he believed his father to be Philip Colby), raised in Denver by his uncle, Cecil Colby on the Colby estate in Denver Nine Oaks, which neighbored the Carrington estate.
Alexis Colby did not appear in the series (actress Joan Collins led a "boycott" of the spin-off show), even at the re-marriage of her daughter Fallon, and son-in-law (and nephew by marriage) Jeff Colby.

 Blast from the Past
In the first season we saw the battles between the Carrington and Colby business empires, the marriage of Blake to his secretary Krystle, Blake's son Stephen coming out as gay, and Blake's accidental murder of Stephens lover.
The series centered around the lives loves and money of two families, The Carringtons and the Colbys (the Carringtons being the lead family).
Unfortunately the Colbys only lasted two seasons and ended with Fallon being kidnapped by aliens in a spaceship (but she was found in the next season of Dynasty in the middle of the dessert).

 Forsythe, John
ABC's answer to hit CBS show Dallas, Dynasty featured Forsythe in the role of patriarch Blake Carrington, head of a wealthy Denver family, plagued by a scheming ex-wife, a bisexual son, and other tribulations.
Forsythe was nominated for an Emmy for his first television role as a father figure, and he would be nominated again for his portrayal of the head of the Carrington clan in the hit show Dynasty in the 1980s.
The actor's distinctive voice and precise diction have also served him well, particularly in parts where the actor was never seen on screen, as in the 1970s Aaron Spelling hit Charlie's Angels, in which Forsythe voiced the role of Charlie Townsend, the eponymous employer of a trio of female detectives.

The Canadian actor Lloyd Bochner caused his greatest stir globally in the gloss-and-glitz American soap opera Dynasty as Cecil Colby, the Denver oil billionaire who helped Blake Carrington to build his own oil empire but turned into an arch-rival and betrayed their friendship by bedding Blake's former wife, Alexis.
Bochner was a pivotal player in the first 40 episodes of Dynasty (1981-82) as the smooth-talking but manipulative businessman who did his deals both in the boardroom and bedroom.
Bochner's films included the crime dramas Tony Rome (1967) and The Detective (1968), both starring a sleuthing Frank Sinatra, and the psychological thriller The Night Walker (1964), featuring Barbara Stanwyck.

But he had the good sense to change his name to John Forsythe once it became apparent that he was to become an actor who'd spend his career playing distinguished, silver-haired gentlemen -- characters with names like Blake Carrington and Rex Roper and Reade Jamieson and Dr. Robert Kier.
And so now you, William Forsythe, son of a character actor, must change your name, to Randy Braxton or Skip Knox or Buck Mullett, as it has become apparent that you will spend your career playing dimwitted hayseeds or rogue cops.
Your father, John Forsythe, was actually born John Lincoln Freund, son of a Wall Street businessman.
