  Museum Blandford Camp
The history of Blandford Camp is portrayed in a number of Museum displays.
From 1946 until 1962 Blandford Camp was used to train National Servicemen by the Royal Artillery, the Royal Army Service Corps, REME and the Army Catering Corps.
The School came to Blandford Camp in 1967 so that its students could take part in joint exercises with other Corps in the South of England and its engineering officers would be close to the centres of research and development.

At present Blandford is one of the neatest little towns in the west of England, and it is increasing every year in extent and population : but it is not lighted, nor is there any general watch for the borough and town.
Blandford is situated in one of the finest tracts of pastureland in the kingdom.
It was originally founded at Milton Abbas, six miles from Blandford, by the abbot of Milton, in the year 1521 ; but its efficiency was nullified by an act of parliament which, in 1785, transferred the school to Blandford, in spite of the opposition of the feoffees of the school.

Mark Hardin Blandford was born to affluent planter parents in Warren County, Georgia, July 13, 1826.
Blandford was appointed as a county commissioner for the Wiggins district in 1850, and then became a leader of the American party in Marion county in 1855.
It was during this engagement that Blandford was shot in the right arm, which had to be amputated at the shoulder.

A parliamentary report of 1777 recorded parish workhouses in operation in Blandford Forum for up to 50 inmates, and at Tarrant Gunvil for up to five.
The new Blandford union took over the old parish workhouse and enlarged it to accommodate 250 inmates.

Blandford Forum is a market town and large parish situated in the East of the county and lies between Wimborne and Sherborne.
It has an unfortunate history having been nearly destroyed by fire in 1579, plundered by Parliamentarian forces in 1644 and totally destroyed by fire in 1731, at which date all the Bishop's Transcripts for the county deposited in Blandford were lost to the flames.
Population in 1861 was 3857, in 1881 it was 3791 and in 1891 had gone up to 3985 which included 56 officers and the inmates of the Workhouse.
