Blandford Forum, or Blandford is a town on the River Stour in Dorset, England.
Blandford is the location of North Dorset's district council, though it is situated in the far south-east of the district.
Blandford Forum is often given as an example of a Georgian town, as the entire centre was rebuilt at once in the 1700s, due to a fire, and is hence uniformly Georgian.

The rapid building of the camp was something of an achievement, for all materials had to be brought in from elsewhere to Blandford Forum railway station and then by steam tractors and horses a further 3 miles to the camp.
It was from Blandford Camp that Brooke and the regiment were to leave for the Dardenelles.
The School came to Blandford Camp in 1967 so that its students could take part in joint exercises with other Corps in the South of England and its engineering officers would be close to the centres of research and development.

While at Camp Blandford, the unit was assigned to the 49th AAA Brigade and to the 92nd AAA Group, and under their direction conducted additional training while awaiting an assignment.
At the end of 1919 the camp was closed and both the wooden huts built for the RND and the camp's railway line were removed.
Blandford Camp is now the home of Royal Signals, which maintains a museum at the site.

The Roosevelt Garden and Memorial were dedicated on 30th May 1945 in the camp and a memorial service is held there annually in November in remembrance of those who died.
The Royal Signals Memorial was moved from Catterick when the training organisation moved to Blandford Camp in the early 1990s.

 Skylighters, The Web Site of the 225th AAA Searchlight Battalion: Unit History -- Part V: Gourock to Newcastle
The battalion landed in Gourock, Scotland on 29 December 1943 and proceeded by rail to its first station in the United Kingdom, Camp Blandford, arriving at its destination on 31 December 1943.
On 13 February 1944, in order to make room at Camp Blandford for constantly arriving new AAA units, the battalion departed by motor convoy for Dan-y-Park in Brecknockshire, Wales.
The camp had never been occupied before the arrival of the 225th and much of the time there was spent in construction and cleanup work and in improving living conditions.

I was concerned at the time of the original Common's statement that all of the new jobs would go elsewhere.
CDC, which is a Canadian company, should recognise the technical expertise which is available in the Blandford area.

He thought that the army camp at Blandford would provide an ideal location for racing and he was prepared to organise a cheese and wine party at which the Camp Commandant would be introduced to the Blackmore Vale Club officials.
The Motor report in the August 31st issue of that year wrote: 'It can truly be said that neither the club or the Blandford circuit was to blame in either case and that when our drivers have greater experience of racing on the road as opposed to airfield courses, such things will seldom occur'.

We left camp early one morning and during the next three days moved about Southern England, setting up one combat mission after another, moving often at night under the most difficult conditions of road, terrain and weather.
We were not completely without divertisements at camp for we had the "tea and cakes" NAAFI Joe McKenna and his sister put on an excellent show under USO auspices (some of us saw them again in Luxembourg) and ENSA tried nobly but failed miserably with several show attempts.
At this point (still at Camp Blandford), the 115th begins training to use their big guns as Field Artillery, skills that will be put to good use before too long.

This site is very peaceful and relaxing, surrounded by woodland and farmland it has lovely walks and cycle routes, it feels very remote yet you are only a few minutes drive from blandford town which has all the facilities you might need.
Some pitches are a bit on the slopey side and some are more secluded away from the play area, which can be a little noisy at times so if you have a specific request you should speak with the owners when booking.

3.13 mile/4.85 km track located at Blandford Camp, Dorset, the home of the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers.
It held the very first post-war road races in England on the 27th August 1949, and was sanctioned by the Headquarters of the Southern Command.
Unfortunately, there were further fatalities at other meetings that year, and the authorities withdrew approval for racing.
