Blast Corps (or Blast Dozer in Japan) is a video game for the Nintendo 64 developed by Rareware that was released in 1997, in which the player must clear a path for a truck carrying a pair of defective nuclear missiles, called the Missile Carrier.
The Blast Corps demolition company is given the task of clearing the route for the carrier and its missiles, to avoid a catastrophic explosion.
Blast Corps rewards the player by giving them ranks as they go further in acquiring medals.

Blast Corps' story is a simple one: A transport truck carrying a nuclear payload has malfunctioned and become unstable, and could be detonated if it comes into contact with any other objects, such as trees and houses.
Blast Corps comes from an era where composing your own soundtrack was still normal (yes, kids, not too long ago, developers actually wrote all of their own music for their games rather than license whatever crappy band is on the radio at the time).
Blast Corps is the main reason I still have my N64 hooked up in the living room with all of my newer toys.

What's best about Blast Corps is the pure and satisfying destruction of stuff, followed by the game's classic sense of child-like, arcade fun and exploration.
Blast Corps really does look like a 64-bit Tonka game, but created from the cartoony cast of Super Mario 64.

One of the N64's second party games, Blast Corps is something I was not even sure I wanted to buy at first, but I decided to give it a shot anyway...
I've never regretted that decision because it's been my favorite game for quite some time, and the innovation in really impressed me. Though, from its appearance on the surface, I wasn't too crazy about the fact that all you have to do in the game is destroy things, the level of strategy had me hooked.
The ability to beat your previous best times and find new ways of beating levels (this game is extremely non-linear for the most part) helps replayability, but I really didn't find too much of a reason to play it again, which is the one major flaw in the game.

The techno- country music on the first level is cool, and the beats on the level wrapup screen is very Amiga-esque (for those who you who remember!) Also, there are tons and tons of voice samples, which are crystal-clear, I might add.
Blast Corps' premise is original, that's for sure.
Go out and buy Blast Corps and prepare to have lots of time on your hands.

There are many other superior games for the 64 that I would recommend over Blast Corps, but for the price I see the game at these days (3 or 5 bucks), I would definitely pick it up.
The graphics are early 64 graphics, which are fairly annoying in many aspects, but if you can look past that, you'll probably enjoy yourself.
