 Ferdinand Christian Baur - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After training at the theological seminary of Blaubeuren, he went in 1809 to the University of Tübingen.
Here he studied for a time under Ernst Bengel, grandson of the eminent New Testament critic, Johann Albrecht Bengel, and at this early stage in his career he seems to have been under the influence of the old Tübingen school.
In 1817 Baur returned to the theological seminary at Blaubeuren as professor.

When, a few years after, his appointment at Blaubeuren, he published his first important work, Symbol-ik und Mythologic oder die Naturreligion des Altertums (1824-1825), it became evident that he had made a deeper study of philosophy, and had come under the influence of Schelling and more particularly of Friedrich Schleiermacher.

Blaubeuren was intense, class everyday for like 6 hours.
One of the funniest episodes from Blaubeuren is Angela and the doors.
There are two buildings in the lodging and at night (or random times in the afternoon) the doors don’t open unless you use the key.

In the chancel of the church of the former Benedictine abbey of Blaubeuren stands an altarpiece almost 12 meters high, created by the Ulm sculptors Michel and Gregor Erhart.
Supported by a predella of the same width as the altar table, the Blaubeuren altarpiece takes the form of a polyptych with two side wings that can be opened.
The Blaubeuren Altarpiece is regarded as a work in the distinctive style of the Erhart workshop.

 Archaeological Field Course in Southwest Germany: Instruction
Early archaeologists discovered a series of extraordinary ivory figurines here (replicas are in the Blaubeuren Museum), as well as one of the very few fragmentary fossil hominid finds known from this time period in central Europe.
Training in field techniques, artifact identification, and data recording will be accompanied by lectures and discussions on general archaeology and history in southern Germany, as well as several excursions to nearby archaeological sites, museums, and historic monuments.

Tucked away in a narrow valley of Baden-Württemberg is Blaubeuren, the so-called "Pearl of the Schwäbisch Alb." Located just west of Ulm, its monastery was founded circa 1085, and the first written record of Blaubeuren appears in 1267.
Blaubeuren's landscape is referred to as having "karst" topography which is a type of landscape that exhibits a number of characteristics such as underground stream systems, dry valley floors, vast networks of caves with various limestone formations, and a thin layer of topsoil over rocky lower layers.
While this description may speak only to those who have an interest in geology, it is an important factor in the formation of the Blautopf.

The Stone Age Museum in Blaubeuren shows numerous finds from Early and Middle Stone Age, primarly from the cave of Blau and Lone valleys.
