  Blessed Crispin of Viterbo
When he was five years old, his pious mother took him to a sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin, a short distance from Viterbo, where she consecrated him to the Mother of God and placed him under her special protection.
Here Crispin was visited by the men of the world, by bishops and cardinals, and even by the pope himself, who always took delight in conversing with the humble lay brother.
It was Crispin's constant endeavour to imitate the virtues of his patron, St. Felix of Cantalice, whom he had chosen as his model of perfectiona t the beginning of his religious life.

In 1693 he took the capuchin habit in the novitiate of Palanzana (near Viterbo) and chose the name of Crispin, the name of the patron saint of shoemakers (St. Crispin, persecuted and martyred during the reign of Diocleziano – the same of Shakespeare’ Enry V – act four, scene three).
Very probably they were used by St Crispin from Viterbo when he was very old (1720-1750).
Only in 1806, when he was proclaimed “Blessed Soul”, the label with the inscription was put inside and the reliquary was sealed with a string and sealing waxes with the armorial bearings of Capuchins.

If you've seen the name "Crispen" before, you've probably seen it spelled "Crispin".
We've had dinner there (the Ostrich), and enjoyed the tales of the landlord who was hanged in the 17th century for installing a trapdoor in one of the bedrooms, which dropped his guests into a vat of boiling water.
Though this landlord's name was Jarman, I'm sure that was merely an alias, and he was a Crispin.
