On May 14, 2005, after a young woman claimed she was miraculously cured of multiple organ failure after praying to Mother Marianne, Mother Marianne was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in a ceremony in Vatican City.

Mother Marianne was one of the six Sisters who eventually did so, going first to Honolulu and then to Molokai to open a hosue for "unprotected women and girls"(not simply agreeing but cheerfully acceding in the spirit of St Francis).
Mother Marianne's personality was tactful in the extreme and she was verys ensitive to the feelings of others; whenever she was required by duty to reprimand one of her Sisters, her eyes would fill with tears.
In her later years, Mother Marianne was dogged with ill health, lung haemorrhage and later dropsy, the latter calling her limbs to swell grotesquely and confining her to a wheelchair.
