		Blinn College and Sam Houston State University proudly present a cooperative program allowing a student to complete the Associate of Science degree at Blinn College and utilize the majority of course work to complete the Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at SHSU.
		The Associate of Science degree at Blinn College requires a minimum of sixty-two (62) college credit hours with at least 30 academic hours in residence, fifteen (15) of which must be at the sophomore level with an overall GPA of 2.0.

		Apparently on the directive of Blinn administrators Carolyn Hoyle, assistant division chair of humanities at the Bryan campus, and Ron Johnson, vice president for academic affairs at the Blinn Brenham campus, the substitute exam was hastily prepared by two other Spanish faculty members at Blinn who had taught the same course.
		(Blinn College in Bryan is a permanent branch campus of Blinn College in Brenham 25 miles or so from Bryan/College Station.) Sifers was not notified that a substitute exam was being given to the three students.
		Although some complaints had been previously received by Blinn administrators from students about Sifers' teaching, they apparently were not viewed as particularly serious or excessive since no Blinn administrator had ever talked in detail with Sifers about the number of complaints nor had any administrator ever visited her class to monitor what was going on.

	THE CASE AGAINST BLINN
		Blinn College is a public two year college funded in part by the state of Texas with campuses at the time of censure in both Brenham and Bryan.
		As members of a university community--Texas A&M and Blinn College faculty, students, staff, and other Bryan/College Station and surrounding area residents as well--we should be both concerned and angry--especially when with much public hoopla ground has recently been broken in Bryan for construction of a major new Blinn College campus.
		Given the facts that Blinn is still on the AAUP censured list, does not have a tenure policy for faculty, and apparently has not made serious efforts to get off the censured list, having a branch of Blinn located in the area is certainly no prize.
