Blitzkrieg 2 PC Video Game Review by AceGamez
Not just your typical WWII RTS, Blitzkrieg was, and still is, a much deeper, for more challenging strategy game that relies more on realism than on providing the visceral thrill of blowing things up, not that was there any shortage of targets to destroy.
While Blitzkrieg only allowed you to choose from five air support options, here you're allowed to pick from infantry, elite troops and light, medium and heavy tanks and artillery, as well as the usual collection of fighter and bomber support.
It's disappointing that while the game boasts an incredible amount of detail in looks, the variety of the missions and the 200 or so usable vehicles and infantry, the AI doesn't quite seem up to the task.

 Blitzkrieg II (computer game) Information
Blitzkrieg II is a real-time strategy computer game based on the events of World War II, the game is an evolution of its predecessor, Blitzkrieg.
However, the game was not well received, as the game took away heavily from the original RTS genre, and gave itself to more of a arcade one.
Blitzkrieg II did not reach the success that Blitzkrieg had reached, and as of June, 2006, Blitzkrieg II has had no announced expansions or other games using it's engine, which happened with Blitzkrieg.

Blitzkrieg: War in Europe 1939-1945 is a turn-based strategy game that lets you try your skills as a supreme commander of Allied, Axis or Soviet troops during WWII in Europe.
Blitzkrieg is easily comparible to Panzer General (an old but excellent PC game) and the board game Axis and Allies as far as enjoyment and depth of play.
My only negative comments are a lack of documentation (it is hard to differentiate the symbol of each type of unit - especially the armored ones) and a slight frutstration with the lack of efficiency of the bomber wings which should be much more efficient according to their characteristics...

 Blitzkrieg 2 (pc: 2005): Reviews
Blitzkrieg II is looking in fine form to lengthen CDV’s reign as World War II real time kings, and if only the pesky problem of units staying where you want them could be solved this would be an essential buy for every armchair strategist.
All the problems in the game are common areas that all RTS games should focus to be at their best, but Blitzkrieg II fails to fix any of them, and therefore results in an average RTS outing.
Blitzkrieg II is too unforgiving and downright frustrating to warrant my recommendation to any but the most intense history buffs.

The game is 2D, and therefore it's really easy to get used to the controls and jump into the game.
There is even tiny details on the tanks, forgotten in other games, such as the rust on the treads, fuel tanks on the Panzer, and even little machineguns on the turrets.
The historical accuracy of this game is unmatched.

Blitzkrieg: Burning Horizons follows the traditions set down in the original Blitzkrieg as an excellent WWII RTS.
As in Blitzkrieg, the game is played in a Fog of War style.
Blitzkrieg: Burning Horizons has a great tutorial that will introduce you to the basic controls of the game, but that won't give you the time to get comfortable with the play of the game before you start the campaign.

Blitzkrieg is a Real Time Strategy game with the right mix of authenticity and action that easily reaches into the area of computer game as historical literature.
The ability to issue commands while the game is paused gives the best of both turn-based and RTS styles, allowing intense bursts of action interspersed with calm, but tense, operational planning.
Blitzkrieg update: The retail release of this exceptional game still has some spelling and awkward grammar issues but it's a Euro-product and any minor documentation glitches are more than compensated by the knowledge and execution of the subject matter.

 GamerDad - Blitzkrieg II (PC)
For a game featuring such deep and rich tactics, the computer fumbles and flails a bit too often with the pathfinding and there isn't enough modeling about how combined arms reacted on the battlefield.
The computer is overly fond of the newbie-friendly trickle-technique (where the computer never attacks with a convincing army, instead preferring to send a few units at a time, where they're destroyed in a few seconds).
Real-time strategy games tend to be fast and frantic, which puts games like this out of the reach of smaller children, and the subject matter is most definitely World War II style combat and the graphics don't shy away from tiny dead bodies (since the game is European the blood is kept to a minimum).

What this means is that the game will track which units you are using the most, and if you prove to be successful on the battlefield, the commanders of the most-used unit types will gain new abilities and reinforcements, helping you greatly during tougher encounters with the enemy.
There is no resource gathering in the game, and your success as a commander depends purely on your choice of tactics during missions and the reinforcements you bring in.

Although, the vision of this game could be far beyond anyone’s expectations, making it a masterpiece, it has missed the mark; by a long shot.

It was difficult to create and apples to apples type comparison as the game does not lend itself well to such activities, but I was able to manipulate the units in one campaign to get pretty accurate test scenario.
That alone is pretty cool, but taking the test further I used a similar arrangement to hit the unit from the side and the rear and each time I changed firing angles, the damage continued to be more pronounced based on the amount of armor for that strike location.
This is very important as most games simply overlook this factor and apply one armor value for the entire unit, including the top and bottom.

In the newest game in the Blitzkrieg series, you command Patton’s army, fight Germans, Italians, and the urge to return the game for a refund.
It’s not that the game is completely lacking in merit, it’s just that it’s basically a $30 Burning Horizon mod, and Burning Horizon wasn’t all that good to begin with.
But once you actually sit down to play the game and have to deal with tank drivers so incompetent that one wonders if they’re working for the enemy, it becomes clear that Rolling Thunder is a decidedly mediocre game.

Blitzkrieg accomplishes this by modeling the statistics that matter and placing them in a real-time context.

Blitzkrieg deals with infantry abstractly, placing men on the field as part of a generic squad that can be moved as a single unit in marching, assault, or defensive formations.

Actually with the exception of the never really finished EUROPA series, WW2IE is the first game period to cover the ETO at this level.
Computer WAR IN EUROPE doesn't count not because it's old looking (in truth, a deliberate decision to mimic the board game as much as possible), but because it's a strategic (week long turns with mostly divisions and corps) rather than operational level game.

The Blitzkrieg series has some good points, but what historical RTS fans are waiting for is a game with Blitkrieg's graphics, "Airborne Assault's" A.I., and "War Times'" 3D terrain.
It amplifies the core concepts of the original game and ramps up both the AI and the difficulty without straying from the tactics-first philosophy that allows this series to stand apart from the RTS crowd.
This severely limits the replay value of the game since once you have properly scouted a map and learned how to deal with a scenario there seems to be no reason to play it again.
