Topic: The Blobs

Binary large object - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A blob is a collection of binary data stored as a single entity in a database management system.
Blobs are typically images, audio or other multimedia objects, though sometimes binary code is stored as a blob.
Blobs were originally just amorphous chunks of data invented by Jim Starkey at DEC, who describes them as "the thing that ate Cincinnatti, Cleveland, or whatever".

Blob (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Blob (Frederick J. Dukes) is a Marvel Comics supervillain, an adversary of the X-Men.
Due to the Scarlet Witch's magicks the Blob was one of the thousands of mutants to lose their powers, though his skin has not shrunk to compensate the loss of his bloated mass, giving him huge folds of loose skin all over his body and causing him to become suicidal.
The Blob had superhuman strength which had greatly increased over the years, in a manner very similar to that of the Thing; originally the Blob had enhanced strength enabling him to lift about 1 ton, but right up to losing his powers he had become strong enough to lift roughly 70 tons.

 Blob help page
With each blob (A), lists blobs in blob window B that overlap blob A. This tests the overlaps in a very specific sense, and was designed to count the blobs that are inside blobs from another image, or taken with another threshold.
Blobs in image B that overlap a blob in A are those whose fiducial points are cooincident with a pixel of blob A, that is, that are in blob A if the images were overlapped.
The blobs are 'segmented' from the image, by associating the thresholded (red colored) pixels into groups of contiguous pixels (using the 4-neighborhood).

GC Image Users' Guide: Detection and Analysis
In a report, the blob data usually should be associated with the name of the chemical that produced the blob and/or the chemical group that produced the blob, so one task of analysis is to identify the blobs by associating chemical names and/or chemical group names with the blobs to be included for reporting.
A blob that is flagged as excluded will be treated in reporting as if it was not detected, but excluded blobs are maintained in the data, so it is possible to remove the exclusion flag or to examine the data for the presence and history of excluded blobs.
After pressing the button to merge blobs, the blob at the center of the cross-hairs is merged with the blob indicated subsequently by pointing the cursor and then shift-click with the left mouse-button.

Using NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, astronomers have caught a glimpse inside the blobs, and discovered evidence that they surround multiple galaxies which could be in the process of merging together.
If the blobs are created by galactic mergers, astronomers will need to figure out why they're putting out so much material.
Blobs were first discovered about five years ago with visible-light telescopes.

When a blob is hit by a non-matching bullet the blob is repelled only (as opposed to being repelled and split when the colors match).
Splitting a blob, for example, produces two smaller and faster blobs each of which have to be dealt with at some later point in the game.
Given that there are already several small blob splinters around the gun tower, it may be strategically more appealing to simply repel the blob and deal with it as a whole later on when the smaller splinters have been dealt with first.

BLOBs, binary large objects, is a big sequence of bytes with one of three data types, DBTYPE_STR, DBTYPE_WSTR and DBTYPE_BYTES.
Typically, it is not a trivial task to retrieve and update a BLOB from and into a data source.
It is not good idea to store thousands of big BLOBs into a table, but it is definitely worth to use a DBMS to store hundreds of BLOBs for simplification of securing, sharing and managing BLOBs over network and multiple clients.

This is roughly comparable to the way a supersonic aircraft breaks the sound barrier and creates a shock wave that we hear as a sonic boom.
